For me, it was **DRAGON BALL SPOILERS**

Gohan and Piccolo getting new transformations in that lameass, redundantly-titled Super Hero movie. It solidified that modern Dragon Ball has nothing to offer but flashy transformations meant to ultimately sell merch.

I gave up on Bravely Default 2 when I realized that spells like Protect only last for three rounds and increase your defense by like 5%.

I gave up on My Hero Academia when they meet that weird face kid who can pass through solid objects. I feel like the story had better things to do by that time, but it wasn't doing those, and I was bored.

When Pickle was thawed and people were trying to gawk at him in his first appearance in public, he grabbed a female reporter and raped her in front of a crowd of people. The on-lookers in the audience said she deserved it because obviously he's a prehistoric human, she should have known better, and that she shouldn't have been so pushy with her camera.

It's been years since I read that so I might have some details wrong, but shit like that was building up in the series for a long time and by then I had enough of it.

DBZ basically peaked at Name+Frieza and it was all downhill from there. The series was only like half over. Android saga was still passable, and the Buu saga a wreck. Super is basically Dragon Ball-like white noise that occasionally obtains clarity for like, a few minutes, then goes back to being noise again. That's my take.

100% agreed. You can tell Akira was still trying with Namek and prior, but after that, it felt like he was just phoning it in to fulfill an obligation/collect a check. Super is just a disgrace to the whole franchise.

Bro, keep watching, those guys are literally never brought up again. Season 3 is decent enough and Season 4 is great.

For me it would be The Flash. I can't get through Season 6 even by leaving it on in the background while I WFH. I just wind up restarting it to Season 1 because it sucks so much(Season 6 that is).

Law & Order SVU: Around the 50th time they did an episode where someone was raped but doesn't want to do anything about it until the last 5 minutes of the show. That's like every other episode now. I still watch, but I wouldn't be the least bit upset if the show eventually ends.

Orphan Black
Season 4 starts good, and teases doom for the clones, only to hand wave away their only lead going up in smoke and their research going up in flames just in time to prolong Cosimas ridiculous lease on life even though shes theoretically been dying for two whole seasons. Also Sarah is terminally stupid the entire time and they spend the entire season teasing a face-turn for Rachel only to flush it at the last minute. Also blonde lady being alive was the dumbest fucking twist. Nothing had any fucking consequences and they kept adding more and more poorly-explained layers to their conspiracy that it became obvious they could never resolve it.

*Picks up huge bag labelled gameplay and throws it in the trash.* "Y'walk and watch unskippable cutscenes now."

After Dante has defeated Vergil who is now apparently a total pushover, Nero randomly starts babbling about Credo then magically regrows his arm and gets a devil trigger and is uber powerful and tells Dante and Vergil to shake hands and be friends and then they push him over and give him a book and ditch him.
It was a spectacle in the moment but I do not care what happens next for this series.

Street Fighter 5
Guile doesn't seem to bat an eye at the sight of the resurrected Nash. For some reason it culminates with Ryu vs Bison with no build up.

Battle of the Gods is cool for showing that the world is still ready for new Dragon Ball characters and takes Goku into a greater purpose beyond just being a martial artist with his powers. I loved it.

Resurrection F shows how Goku's new powers don't necessarily ruin the classic DBZ formula, that he can still be beaten in other ways, and finally shows what would actually happen vs someone with Frieza's powers x1000. Kaboom.

The tournament with Champa is fine, but it's confusing. There have just been so many tournaments. This is one of the better ones, is all I can say. The victories are creative. The stakes are high. Etc

Vegeta's episode foreshadowing Goku Black is solid. Solid, solid, solid.

I am enjoying the Goku Black arc as a bigger thing using the Future Trunks that was actually popular with people.

But I am worried the further in to Super I go, it will become what youre saying. Transformation of the week with fights taking 6 episodes of grunting and taunting

-Freeza becoming a billion times stronger in four months is just insanely unbelievable from a writing standpoint, and was clearly only done to force him into relevancy. Speaking of which...

-Forcing a long-dead villain back into relevancy through an ass-pull power-up is just hacky as hell.

-The god who's supposed to be impartial to mortal affairs literally rewinds time to save the heroes. Lamest ending ever.

I was thinking about many of these points after making that post. I certainly see where you're coming from. As far as Resurrection F goes, I'm basically fine with how they handled the Super Saiyan God vs Super Saiyan Blue stuff, and I get the impression that a lot was lost in translation of the subtext. It should be weaker than the actual Super Saiyan God but Goku & Vegeta use it for nefarious purposes without having to do the ritual , so it is somewhat more useful despite not actually being stronger. When they go all out on Frieza, it's not even a fight, especially together, but their failure is playing around with such a dangerous enemy who has guns and can destroy a city in the blink of an eye or even an entire planet. Goku getting got that way was perfect IMO. When he isn't powered up, he's vulnerable. Isn't that the case? This was a subtle and smart DB film.

My main gripes are becoming not going back to the Battle of the Gods way of using Super Saiyan God, who can heal and stuff, and also the fact that Goku Black isn't like a karmic shadow from a time paradox born of Goku becoming a god with all the other shenanigans he pulls, tho I assume this is also lost in nuance and subtext and context and translation

The plot that Frieza never had to train is perfect and he was driven by this instinct of having been in hell, perhaps

Including Beerus and Whiz is the best move they've made since the Android saga

Hit is the best character from Super so far imo, and perfectly exemplifies the themes, point, and mentality of the new show. One of the few times Super acknowledges itself with a nod when we see that Goku was copying his technique after an unknown point in the battle, and it speaks for all the unspoken plot points finally.

That Ramsay scene was terrible and makes me afraid to rewatch season 4, but that was a hint of things to come. That was an invented scene for season 4. Season 5 and on basically every scene was invented from now on and the show became crap. When they stuck to the books it was great, but that invented stuff sucked.

I remember the raping of Carstera keep, which is implied in the books but horribly expanded on the show where its happening right in front of the screen, like who would green light that?
