Aside from Mantles and Elder Dragon materials there isn't a whole lot of reason to do the regular quests. Investigation coins can buy you the rare drops, afflicted materials are needed to max every weapon, and the RNG stuff(talismans/armor augments) can also be grinded while you're doing Investigations. I am doing a lot of regular quests for crown farming though.
