I love doing that, I wouldn't say it's a hobby for me since I don't do it regularly, or even semi regularly, but it's still fun

LEGOs are tight. I used to be a Bionicle nerd. My very first forum experience was the Bionicle fansite BZPower. I havent bought a set in over a decade, and have no intention to (but was very nearly tempted by that Boba Fett Bionicle-like set a few years ago), but Ive got respect for the hobby.

Legos are cool, even though I never played with them much. But it's neat to see what people build with them.

I'm looking at the upcoming Doctor Strange NY Sanctum Sanctorum, going to cost about $300 and come with lots of minifigs.

https://brickset.com/sets/76218-1/Sanctum-Sanctorum

There is a good chance that I am going to have to move in the coming months, so the money I had saved towards this is going to keeping myself alive instead and I am extremely irate.

Not sure how to rate, as its not something I was ever into for the act of building lego sets. I had lego blocks as a kid, but I mostly just used them to build forts and structures for my action figures to fight in when I was a kid.

I used to love them, but don't like them at all. The fact the have limited runs puts me off. Theres a few sets I would love to have but I am not buying 8 times their MSRP because I didn't know they existed two years ago.

Gundams, granted don't have the portfolio as big as Lego, still turns out kits from 40 years ago so the secondary market isn't too bad unless you want a hot ticket kit that gets bought out as soon as a new run is released.

To give it anything else than a 10 to me is making a judgment. If it makes you happy, that's fine with me. Besides, I can relate to legos. I used them a lot as a kid. I don't even know what happened to all my lego menz. I think my parents threw all that shit away when I moved away for college.

People keep saying expensive. I'd be more about space. Lego boxes and sets take up lots of space.

If we're going expensive, I'd go Magic The Gathering. I always liked the game. Never played it. Just like collecting cards and art. I never have bought any packs though. Only for friends back in the 90s for their birthday. Had I known people would have valuing them for hundreds of thousands of dollars, I would've bought lots of packs.

I used to have a giant baseball card collection worth over $50,000. I gave it to my brother and he sold it to some shop for 10k. My Dad likes to take shots at me because of it, but I don't regret it. They were just the same with Beanie Babies.

It's like a hundred dollars for a set that takes maybe three hours to build.

I don't mind Lego but I'm not sure if its a hobby as much as a collection, unless youre designing original sets.

A set that costs hundreds is going to take more than three hours to build, the millennium falcon takes about 24 working hours to assemble. I bought a couple of small sets a couple weeks back and together it took me three hours to build them both.

That seems really high unless the assembly is extremely complex or you're really bad at finding pieces, but regardless that's literally 1000 dollars.

The cost per time ratio of Lego as a hobby is very poor, and the actual appearance of the finished product isn't great unless you're specifically into the Lego appearance rather than a more accurate look.

I enjoy the time I spend with Lego sets, but buying even a Lego set a month is going to be expensive while not being very time consuming. I get a Lego set maybe every couple years, and it's fun while it lasts, but I couldn't see doing it regularly. I'd rather either spend more money on something that looks nicer or spend money on something that I'm going to get more time value out of.

It was a $400 set when it was released, it's only a grand now because Lego rarely does reprints and scalpers bought a large portion of the original run.

Adam Savage put one together in about 18 hours but he had three other guys helping with sorting and assembly and they had assembled one previously so knew what they were going to do ahead of time.

That one?

Worth it, looks like 26 minifigs (depending on your definition) a couple of horses and a dog and cat in there.

Folds open and closed too.
