It was a 20th Century Fox property and then Disney bought them over so it was up to Disney to do the distributions. There was some weird contract that if a 20th century movie were to be released, it would have to stream on HBO Max, so to bypass it they put it directly to streaming. Since Disney owns Hulu as well, they figure that service barely has that many original movies so that's why we only have it on stream. It's sad because I think this movie is one of those that deserves to be on the big screen.

honestly at this point my 60" TV + sound setup ($700 total) is better than most theaters anyway, Id rather watch movies at home these days. Home viewing has become beautifully cheap. I guess the extreme deep bass isn't quite matching to a theater, but I can still top that if I strap on some good headphones rather than the room sound

I do still think the movie would kill it in theaters for people looking to get out of the house though

Really good movie overall but I didn't care for her arc. Everyone told her she couldn't be a hunter and she proved them right by totally beefing it every time she tried to hunt a dangerous animal. Then, after tearing through the best warriors her tribe has, as well as dozens of frogs, the Predator forgets it's the smartest and most formidable hunter the universe has ever seen and kills itself. Doesn't really feel like she did anything to earn that kill.

I liked how he appeared to be much more arrogant than the Predators from other movies. And you can't exactly blame him either. The Jungle Predator had to be much more cautious and smart because he was up against a squad of heavily armed mercenaries that could absolutely obliterate him if he had been reckless. This Predator outmatched everything he came across, and nobody had the firepower, strength, or cohesion to really do anything about it.

oh earlier ppl mentioend the AvP films my thoughts

first is OK

2nd is dumb and completely has the dynamic between the xenomorphs and Yautja backwards the xenomorphs are the ones who deal out the curb stomps not the Yautja (also the film only has women getting xenomorph egged)

As for the discussion on why the predator in this one fumbled the use of its gear:

It seems to me that he understands how it works, but is using it recklessly moment to moment. When he is using the homing bolts weapon against the brother and they are hitting the tree, its all close range and he doesn't care if it redirects after launching, he just needs the brother to be in the initial path. When the bolt redirects and ultimately kills him at the end of the last fight, he is unaware that the helmet is there and pointed at the back of his head.

It was passable....some good action and gore. The predator looked amazing!
The film dragged alot tho, it's quite slow even for a shorter film. One big problem is it doesn't use the soundtrack score from the original, would've made it 100 times better. 6/10.
