I've literally worked at both. Theyre both similarly shitty but target really wants its customers to think theyre classier while walmart doesnt care.

The selection in walmart is so much better. And if you dont mind self checkout walmarts way better.

Target at least used to smell like popcorn.

They have mostly the same stuff, Walmart is cheaper, and Target like Walmart treats their staff like shit. Target just has a good rep for some reason.

Walmart when they used to sell cheap ammo, now it doesn't matter.

Walmart has much shittier customers, receipt checkers, those security gate things, and messier/more crowded stores. But no Target only "pretends" to be better

I'd rather go to Target but Walmart has a bigger selection. Bonus points to Target for the hot yoga pants women.

one year, wife insisted we go black thursday shopping.

At Target, crowds aside, once I found what I was there for there was zero complication getting in line, and (slowly) getting to a register.

At Wal-Mart, they had big flags and balloons marking where the line was, and then after I was basically locked in place with nowhere to go except forward with the line, somebody came and tore down the sign, told us the actual line was wrapping around the building the other way. After we'd been slowly making our way forward from that spot for an hour.

I dgaf enough to prefer one or the other. They're like The Home Depot vs. LOWES to me where both have stuff I need and that's about it.

Gun-to-my-head, I'll choose Wal*Mart for their numerous locations and convenient hours. I travel a lot for business so seeing that one store being open where all the nearby stores being closed at 9 or 10 pm is a Godsend.

Target near me is nicer with better employees and customers. Walmart's prices are generally cheaper, though.

it might just have been the locations i used to live near, but i will say that randalls trumps both

Overall Target but Walmart at least mine, has a good selection of older Switch games still.

They both have their advantages:

Walmart has more products and the lowest prices you can find, and MUCH better grocery and clothes sections.

Target has a better environment (customer base), slightly better customer service, and prices that are very low (though maybe very slightly higher than Walmart) although both stores price match.

I work at Target, and we have no self checkout at my store (although all others in the area do), so if having a human ring you up is important (like it is for one of my wfh co-workers at another job) then you should definitely go to Target. For absolute rock bottom prices and not caring about anything else, Walmart is the store.

For me personally, and this goes for before I worked at Target, I am closer to Walmart but only go there early in the morning if Im cooking something and see Im missing one item I need. Otherwise, Ill drive the extra half mile to Target, as the environment there is objectively better.

Walmart is so fucking depressing. The one by me always has elderly people struggling to stock shelves where as the Target usually has high school/college kids.
