Let's see Plenty of men watch reality shows. Women do support women's sports Women's leagues have been underinvested in since the start, hard to catch up Men on,y care about women's sports when a transpersonal is involved then women's sports is the most important thing ever. 90% of women I meet have a very fleeting interest in sports at best. Even the ones who do watch it will have nowhere near the knowledge of most male fans, even with their favourite sport. You don't often see a woman go hard on the number crunching re stats when discussing player X vs player Y for one thing lol It's gonna be very difficult to get women's sport leagues to reach any level of popularity close to their male alternative The wage issue is a tricky one. Do we doom these women to making only what their attendance and viewership justifies? That'll keep the league amateur, require them to have second jobs and make sports remain a non viable career option for young women. If there's actual decent money being paid, even prematurely, it's gonna naturally make a lot more women pay more attention and increase popularity, participation and viewership in the process Tennis is an exception to the rule atm but it doesn't have to be that way. --- Started from the bottom now we here ... Often times I don't see the season length covered when it comes to the fair pay debate. NBA is what, 82 games? Potentially 20+ playoff games per season? WNBA just reached 36 games per season. 30 different cities to constantly travel to in the NBA, 12 for the WNBA. Right off the top, NBA players essentially play nearly 3 times the games each year. If I worked 15 hours a week, I wouldn't demand to get paid the same as the guy who works 45. --- Eradicate but vindicate as "progress" creeps along. Just making it a high paying job isnt necessarily the answer. If they turned the WNBA into the Gorgeous Ladies of Basketball (GLOB) it would probably generate massive profits and it wouldnt even matter if they could play well. No you create the best product you can and let the rest sort itself. What does "high paying job" even mean in this context? Like... the woman currently trapped in Russia was making $200K+ a year and was making a million dollars a year playing overseas on the off season. The AVERAGE WNBA salary is $120K (https://www.yahoo.com/video/much-wnba-players-210001886.html) Is that not "good enough" to justify playing basketball?
