They completely changed Dante's combat to some unfun garbage, and then gave the DMC1 combat to Trish who doesn't appear during the game at all and can only be played after beating the game with both characters. Yeah it's called an unlockable character. It's what games used to have before they realised they could sell them to you or package them into lazy remasters like DMCV. Lots of games around the time had them. Dante's combat has a bunch of cool moves they never bought back, rainstorm as a move innate to E&I before gunslinger was a thing + the ability to boost a jump using guns in the air, the triple air combo that gains height, that DT move where he shoots ice/fire waves, the original Majin Devil Trigger before they finally caved and let us have the watered down SDT, customisable DT including an innate flying state which could attack with the sword instead of the lunge you get in 1 and 3. Guns are strong in this one. You got these gems that let you either run faster, opt for more damage or slow enemies on hit. It was cool. Lucia was an entire second character who used short range knives and martial arts (Instead of having another samey Ifrit like weapon for Dante, they made an entire martial arts character out of the idea while DMCV gives V aka spin the wheel and see if your familiars do what you want them to this time.) Divinity: Original Sin 2 - I enjoyed the range addition to the combat system, and the inventory was much better as they streamlined the selling options. Only thing the first game had over it (i feel, anyway), was the usage of Action Points. I prefered the 1sts way of handling it. --- I wrote a horror novel, called "Spare Parts." A whole damn novel!
