I'm about to head to the store, buy a whole bunch of food, and cook it all today.

I hate having to cook everyday. This saves a lot of time.

Most of the time I do make my lunch for the week on Sundays that I can bring to work so I don't eat fast food every day. For dinner usually me or my wife get something going in the crockpot in the morning so it'll be pretty much done by the time we get home so all we really have to do is cook a side or two

I usually cook in bulk to last for one week, so I don't usually freeze anything.

But if one wants to cook food to last longer than that, then yeah, freezing is a great idea.

Smart.

It's VERY tempting to eat out. Making meal prep ensures you don't go overboard with fast food.

yes but a variation on it.
For example, I will marinate a whole pack of chicken and pre cut some peppers and onions then just throw a portion in a skillet every time I want a meal, in this case...Chicken Fajitas.

I get bored of eating the same thing more than 3 times or so in a short time so no, not really my thing.

My two roommates will meal prep sometimes but take up tons of space in my refrigerator, use an ungodly number of dishes because of it and dont clean them afterwards.

Yeah i tried to but 3 days does seems to be the cutoff of either when it stops tasting as good or i get bored of it. As far as lunch or dinner.

Having repetivie breakfast stuff premade like egg sandwiches or oatmeal seems easier to eat repeatedly

One of my cousins is super into meal prep. She literally once made 16 lasagnas (like 9x13 pan size) and froze them. She also makes tons of soup and freezes it, and probably lots of other stuff I don't remember.

My issue is I need more fridge or freezer space first - But the idea would be I'd have my own home-made meals, instead of cramming the space with different ingredients or frozen stuff.

Reheating from frozen doesnt hit the same for some premade "healthy" dishes or other stuff IMO.
That premade chicken stuff seems like it'd be good, but i want something that is frozen with a full meal in a container already.

yup. i only cook for myself and i found it incredibly difficult to find recipes for one meal. and when i did, the amount of overhead spent on buying ingredients, cooking and cleaning up was just not worth it for a single meal. i usually do two cooking sessions per week, one for lunch and one for dinner. i'm fine with eating the same lunch every day, so i just make one meal for the entire week. then for dinner, i make a big meal and freeze half of it, then take something i previously cooked out of the freezer and use that, along with what i cooked this week, for my dinners.

Ive found that for me personally, meal prepping actually makes it a bit easier to manage this type of binging. I would rail through unportioned ingredients like nobodies business, and just in the past year Ive been able to move from only eating out, to having to buy the days ingredients on the day I eat it, to being able to stock one week, to now being able to stock one month plus bulk staples. Idk I think mentally I see the prepped stuff and I just think, yeh thats all my grocery money and I dont really want to spend more.

But I definitely feel the struggle, so whatever helps you manage is great. Interesting how a lot of people here seem to struggle with binge eating.

The only time I cook "in bulk" is when I make soup or some kind of sauce such as pasta sauce or curry, and I better be in the mood for eating the same leftovers for a week.

Easy for you to say when I'm already running out of freezer space as it is with two working freezers. I need to have my broken chest freezer repaired before I can think about stocking up on even more frozen goods and prepared meals.
