Movie trailers today are absolutely horrible. They basically show the entire plot in 3 minutes. Not a sneak peek or a teaser, just the whole ding dang thing.

Theyll spoil something for 2 seconds in their first trailer. Trailers after that will show the same spoiler for much longer in each new trailer. And they continue to show more spoilers too.

The obvious character theyre just blasting everywheres obviously in it and then they continue to spoil the villain as well after that.

This is more to be blamed on the marketing department who over hypes the movie while not caring about spoilers.

I'm having Terminator: Genisys flashbacks from this topic. It's the most egregious case of trailers ruining a movie that I've ever seen. What makes it worse is it was entirely unnecessary for a movie who's main appeal was nostalgia bait

I disagree. Regardless of what's in the trailer, Marvel is pretty good at saving some big "WOW" moments for the actual film. I don't think they spoil things at all, really. I've seen people claim they did so with Doctor Strange: MOM but I don't see how since the way the scenes are shown in the trailer, it looks like Wanda is fighting alongside Strange and Wong.

They showed the villain, just about every fight scene and all guest appearances. They showed the whole movie. This is just the worst example you could pick.

TC is the type of person who thinks every single detail is a spoiler. Newsflash buddy, Jane was revealed to be getting Lady Thor powers the literal day they announced the movie, and Bale was confirmed to be an alien villain not too far on after. None of that is a spoiler. The spoilers are HOW these things happen. And like others have already pointed out, Disney has put fake shit in trailers for years now, and did a fantastic job hiding the biggest surprises in Endgame and MoM. And no, I dont consider the cameos in MoM to be surprises because they were relatively central to marketing. Even then, a couple were kept as a surprise anyway.

Not in the initial trailers they didn't.

Marvel trailers are pretty reliable about not spoiling too much prior to the release of the film. They often directly lie in the trailers, even. MoM is interesting because they definitely showed a little more of their hand early than they usually do but they also had way more hidden, ignoring the leaks.

They're also pretty reliable in that the super spoilery trailers start generally about two weeks after the film releases.

its true. But the trailers are far from the real problem

The plot leaks find their way online and then everyone is in a rush to spoil the movie for one another. Be it Im on purpose like some trolls tend to do. Or just all these media / YouTube sort of people who need to put the shit in headlines and thumbnails.

And heaven forbid you dont see the movie opening weekend. Cuz by Monday, its just full on spoiler talk with zero warning.

I go on Screenrant for my movie news and they are absolutely awful about this. They have, maybe, a four day moritorium on spoilers. A week tops for really big things. Even when they're not directy spoiling things they make articles like "How will [SPOILERS] death affect the rest of this season?" And have a picture of the person they're talking about. People calling them out for it in the comments got so bad years ago that they deleted the comment function. I wish I could find a better site because it's all this and clickbait garbage. At least they don't do lists anymore.

What did you think when Captain Marvel is attacking Wanda in the first trailer? So one or the other is a villain to say the least. And it shows wanda in full scarlet witch uniform as well. And it shows xavier and also Mordo doesnt seem happy either.

And youre replying to a joke you didnt get either.

You mean the alternate version of Captain Marvel and not the "real one?" Nothing because that could've easily meant Maria was the enemy. Or it's a misunderstanding leading to a fight.

They didn't? They didn't show the Illuminati, they didn't show Wanda trying to kill America or her attack on the monastery. There were quite a few things they left out. You seem to think showing any scene from the movie is a spoiler.

I actually noticed this heavily in Far From Home. I don't really watch commercials anymore so I wasn't spoiled and when I saw the movie, I was legit surprised to see Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield in it. Then later on I see the commercial and it's nothing but them being spoiled in it. I mean I get the grift. Sell tickets at any cost. But is it worth ruining the fans' experience?

I'm pretty sure they didn't air those commercials until after the movie had been out a while. That was a "secret" until the movie released.

Don't watch trailers then. I mean this is the equivalent of bitching about not liking milk yet still drink it.

Unless you're statement is worded to imply they spoil the movie in its entirety, in which case I would say that is impossible because a movie at minimum is an hour long, trailers usually don't run longer than five minutes making every detail impossible to spoil.

Ok? The monster has no direct ties to Wanda that the trailer shows. And showing the minotaur in no way tells us Wanda was attacking them. And no they didn't show the Illuminati.
