- Mariupol about to fall, sea of Azov completely lost
- 60k Ukrainian soldiers on verge of getting surrounded in east (big bulk of Ukraine's forces). Either they surrender or they all get killed
- Kiev gradually getting encircled
- 100s of foreign pro-Ukraine soldiers annihilated, some of them trying to run to Poland after finding out this is a real war and not Call Of Duty

They're winning because Russia hasn't taken over the country yet and Zelensky is still alive.

If you're invading there's a higher threshold for winning. The small gains they seem to be making don't seem to meet that.

It will become a war of attriction.
And there is a very good likelihood that Russia will fall in on itself, as it did during The Cold War.

Ukraine is pushing west of Kyiv and east towards Kherson. Meanwhile, the Russians are so far unable even to reduce thoroughly-stricken Mariupol and are stalled on most fronts, struggling with poor morale and supply issues, taking irreplaceable vehicular losses all the while.
It's still too early to make sweeping predictions of the outcome, but it's been a while since things looked particularly good for Russia.

Only problem with a war of attrition is that it doesn't work too well when the city is getting supplies constantly from neighboring countries that the assailant can't afford to declare war on.

as far as I know, it still isn't clear what Putin's goals are, so there doesn't seem to be any definitive reason to say that one side is currently "winning" over the other.

that being said, Ukraine has been very good at putting out propaganda to make it seem like they're winning

Putin's only goal right now is to save face and retain power. But like Trump, his ego is self-defeating. Sometimes a small amount of humility can get you what you want, but some people just can't do it.

But let's be completely honest here. If we're going solely by who is doing better relative to the resources they have available, Ukraine is clearly doing better than Russia.

Ukraine will more then likely fall but they already won, just by putting up with way more of a fight then expected. Russia has wasted lots of man power and money on what was suppose to be a very easy victory.

Everyday Ukraine stands as a free nation they win.

My own eyes and ears and knowing facts and statistics, its looking more and more likely that Russia will fail its military campaign in Ukraine but also take decades and decades to recover economically

There's no way Russia can win in the end. After Russia takes them, what then? Is everyone in the Ukraine just going to be like "well OK, I guess we're Russia now, let's just go along with whatever Putin says" and they can occupy with no problems? Of course not. And how's that gonna go?

Iraq and Afghanistan were long term disasters for the US. Afghanistan basically destroyed the Soviet Union. And both of those occupations were after takeovers that ended almost instantly. And this is a country that is bigger, more technologically advanced, and has a stronger sense of national identity. Any occupation is likely to be ten times worse than Iraq or Afghanistan.

On top of that, Ukraine preventing the Russian army from taking over looks less and less impossible every day.

I fear Russia and will just completely destroy Ukraine. Especially if the rumors of Putin becoming more unhinged all the time are true.

Nobody really expects Ukraine to win. Just that they've been doing a way better than expect job at fending them off and it'll take Russia way more resources than they prolly anticipated to get the job done.

Putin's goals are to be envisioned as a strong, decisive autocrat and that his opponents will be suppressed at best and crushed at worst. And if you need any evidence, there's plenty of people who were fed polonium sandwiches who can back it up.

If Putin feels he's going to lose there's an extremely high chance he'll just fire a nuke at Ukraine and end the world rather than be removed from power. As long as Putin remains President of Russia the question isn't if he'll use one, it's when.
