Depends where you live. If you're just doing it to not give others an advantage or if you're doing it to just give yourself an advantage.

There's nothing wrong with extra mags, especially in single stack/subcompact pistols. If you have the pocket or belt space, do it.

I know plenty of people like this, its like the 50 cent song, the guns are their buddies. And then I guess sometimes theyll find some good areas to let some rounds off so gotta keep them on hand.

Some people don't have the privilege of being able to take a CPL course and choose to open carry to protect themselves. Especially the disenfranchised folk that have trouble when it comes to getting things from the government

Carrying is soft. It's not hard at all to avoid physical conflict. There's at best a 0.1% chance you'll ever get into a situation where you have no choice.

Imagine thinking it's "soft" to want to leave your fate up to somebody else. I carry because I want an option in any situation. I never want to be that person cowering in the back of a store thinking "If only I brought my gun today" while an armed robber terrorizes people.

I live in a relatively high crime urban area, once the sun starts to go down the Glock is coming with me. Concealed of course.

The mag capacity in .45s is usually pretty limited compared to most 9mms, especially if its a compact. I could definitely see carrying at least 1 extra mag.

I'm sure a lot of the people who were killed during robberies thought they'd never be in that situation.

but is it really worth putting your life in danger because the store you're shopping at gets robbed? note that the store is most likely insured. i'd just sit there quietly and let him take what he wants and let the police deal with it, even if i was armed. the only way i would ever bring out a gun is if my life was in immediate danger, and even then, you're making the situation exponentially more dangerous (for everyone involved, even innocent bystanders) by bringing out another firearm.

note that robbers aren't there to kill people. they're there because they desperately need quick cash.

given the chances of each of those things happening and the outcome of each given another gun being added to the equation, i'll take my chances of "no good guy with a gun please".

it's the same reason why i wear a seat belt despite the 1/100000000 chance that it might kill me instead of saving my life. yes, it's possible for the seat belt to kill me, but i'm going to side with statistics and evidence that ensures my highest chance of survival.

If you've decided that you need to carry a gun, you might as well carry all of the bullets that you think you might need. If someone constantly carried emergency rations on them because someday they might be in a starvation situation, I wouldnt think it was any more absurd to constantly carry three.

Open carryers are almost always chuds who get off on the intimidation factor.

Eh, I open carry when camping/fishing, but thats it. Dont care if that makes anyone I pass on the trail uncomfortable. Dangerous critters out there.

Not sure what the point of carrying extra mags would be in daily life, especially since viagra is a lot lighter and just as effective at accomplishing the desired goal.

Pointing out that people will often use things like guns to compensate isnt a fascination.

as someone who carries every day with an extra magazine its more about taking certain problems into consideration rather than not having enough firepower. with semi-autos specifically you can run into feeding problems and jams which can be solved faster by just droping the magazine, inserting a new one and reracking the slide rather than trying to fumble with holding onto the old one and trying to clear it and reinsurting it and then reracking. you also can run into a problem in high stress situations where you grip the gun slightly wrong which can end up with you hitting the magazine release. needless to say its not a good situation if you have to dive for your magazine on the ground in the middle of a gun fight.
