C

I should never run the risk of losing my job or losing my spot in the job just because I have a family to take care of

It would be great if more jobs were like Uber where you can work anytime you want. That way if an employees family needs him (to watch the kids, take them to school and pick them up, etc), that said person is able to do anything without work interfering

Just let the people without kids pick up the slack at work. Its not like they have anything else going on past work anyway for the most part. They usually just work, then go home, then party on Friday nights and weekends.

D. I don't think it's fair that people get to bail constantly at random hours on random days and just say "my kid" as an excuse just because they made the mistake of having one.

It's a bulletproof excuse. What dickhead boss is going to ask for "proof" that you need to leave for a kid situation?

The truth is though, you will never be ready to have a kid. no matter what age you have them, you will always have the work life balance problem.

im not trolling at all.

I had many different jobs and typically young guys just go out and have fun outside of work. They dont really do anything that important because they have no real obligations or commitments for the most part.

You have no idea how many times I hear young guys planning concerts, parties, sports games, or other outings on Friday nights or weekends.

None of what they do is as important as making sure someone can watch your kid, making sure someone is there if your child is sick, etc.

This is the dumbest thing I ever read.

You chose to have kids. Why the fuck should anyone else be obligated to pick up the slack for you?

So you think people should be treated differently, given preferential treatment and do more than their fair share of work based on their familial situation?

LMFAO. Good luck getting a company to jump on that proposal. As productive and fun as a workplace staffed almost entirely by parents (since nobody child free will work there) who can come and go as they please sounds, that's a textbook case of discrimination. While you're at it and headed for court anyway, may as well have a policy to pay people based on how many kids they do/don't have.

Work life balance is a mess in most countries and the power dynamic is way too one sided in favor of employers.

Thats definitely true. A lot needs to change and generally speaking all instances of moving to 4 day work weeks were beneficial for the employers as well as employees yet theres this idiotic devotion to the status quo in so many countries.

But the fact tc came up with "people who don't have kids should pick up the slack for everyone else" rather than "work culture needs to change" or "there needs to be more legislation in place to make things better for employees" is just mind boggling.

What an incredibly nonsensical, useless, and entitled conclusion to come to.

What are you confirming here?

Cause tc started off well but the conclusion he came to of "fuck it make people without kids work more and cover for everyone who chose to have kids because their time isn't valuable like parents time is" is the height of ridiculous.

The scary part is thats already a thing in some places. People with families to feed get more preferential treatment when it comes to pay raises and promotions in some companies.

I'm a Dad but I completely disagree that employees without kids should pick up the slack lol.

Maternity and paternity leave should be standard and more generous but c'mon. No employees should be forced to unreasonably sacrifice their personal lives for work. If they decide to on their own merits they should get overtime pay.

why would you assume that would be the case? everyone is entitled to work life balance, not just people with family. i dunno what you get in america but in australia you get at least 4 weeks paid leave a year, 2 weeks personal leave and 2 weeks sick leave, and after a few years, long term service leave. thats on top of more public holidays than america. its still not great here but again what issue do you think you are trying to solve by keeping people at work and protecting the business instead of the people?
