79 y/o Retired Cop, Curtis Reeves laughed and smiled after he was SHOCKED that his defense WORKED in swaying the jury in his favour after he gunned down a father at a movie theatre in Florida for throwing POPCORN at him and then shot his WIFE, Nicole, striking her FINGER!!

When the verdict came down, Reeves smiled and put his hands over his hand as he couldn't believe the verdict and smiled and joked with the press on this miracle decision...but then said he felt BAD about killing the father

He was acquitted on second degree murder and aggravated battery charges of the 2014 fatal shooting of 43 y/o father, Chad Oulson during an argument over him texting his babysitter on his phone during the previews when Curtis flipped his lid and yelled at him when a disagreement escalated beteen them. Oulson then threw popcorn at him and suddenly Reeves took out his gun ands hot him in the chest, killing him.

It happened at Grovie 16 movie theatre in Tampa as other shocked movie goers screamed and ran out.

Nicole Oulson,sobbed uncontrollably on the verdict as her stunned family stormed out of the courtroom and hugged each other in the parking lot

One family member screams "I don't understand. I don't understand" as they wept

Reeves said he FEARED for his life that Oulson would beat the rap out of him after he threw that popcorn which landed on his face and now he's glad this 8 year ordeal is over

He said "it was trying, not just for me, but for my family. It was a tough time for all of us with the restrictions and all the thing that went on over the years. it was very difficult to deal with. I'm going to my daughter's wedding saturday. That's the plan. Thank you God"

He was 71 at the time of the murder when he crossed paths with Oulson while the father was out on a date with his wife and was texting the babysitter to give permission to take them out.

Reeves claims Oulson was the one who flipped out and yelled at him and said he's never had anybody get in his face like that and it scared the shit out of him and fearing Oulson was going to punch him, he took out his gun on his lap and shot him dead and plead the Stand your Ground defense.

At the same time he shot at his Wife too striking her finger nearly SEVERING IT when she tried to get involved. She said it felt like her hand was blown off.

Nicole recalled the last moments watching her husband die and said "I see his eyes were just glazed over and i knew at that moment, i told him, Chad, we need you, please hang in there, we need you"

A witness at the theatre heard Oulson yell at him "I was just texting my f**in daughter" and then flicked popcorn at at the cop's face just before gunfire ran out

No one at the theatre heard Oulson threaten the old goat which then made Reeves second guess himself but reiterates he was fearful of what would happen.

Reeves said "I don't know what ot say, except this is a life changing event that i would have avoided at all costs. My life is ruined, my family's life is ruined, i'm ruined. My life won't be the same"

He's a retired U.S Navy veteran and former Tampa Police Captain who helped launch the lead agency's first SWAT team before retiring in 1993

Also, cellphones being out to text during a preview is no big deal. Even confronting in movie texters has the ironic effect of being a way bigger distraction than leaving them alone.

Only theater staff should really be enforcing these rules.

But also, I don't like people who text during movies.

Throwing popcorn at someone is now justification to blow them away.

I feared for my life

Ive been on one jury, and it was filled with idiots. There was a car crash caused because car 1 turned right from a parking lot onto a street. Car 2 crashed into car 1 because there wasnt enough time for car 2 to react.

This fucking trial took 2.5 days of testimony for a simple car crash. And when it was done, I thought it was an open & shut case. Car 1 caused the crash, was 100% at fault, and should need to pay for the damages caused to car 2, as well as bodily harm.

Problem was that car 2 clearly didnt have any insurance, and thus wasnt represented. Car 1 clearly did have insurance, and therefore, State Farm was paying for an attorney. And they spent the better part of that entire time just trying to drag the reputations of the people in car 2 through the mud. How they had previous convictions on their records. How they couldnt be trusted to go to physical therapy because they werent really hurt.

When the time came for the jury to deliberate, only myself and one other guy wanted to award full damages to car 2 for the simple reason that car 1 was at fault. Thats all that mattered here. The instance of the crash. Yet the others on the jury said they didnt deserve anything because they were thugs. There was also one old man on the jury who felt they shouldnt get anything because I would have reacted in time and avoided the accident. Why couldnt they?

Ultimately, the jury compromised to only award car 2 a mere $500 to be shared between both people on car 2. Ive felt that juries are fucking useless ever since that experience.

Even if most people didn't suck off cops all the time, there would still be old fashioned jury tampering and intimidation. Cops are just like the mafia. Plus the courts are on their sides anyway.
