I'd suggest it's more the fucked up system wherein you get asstons of public funds to research into a private patent.

I hope this works and extends to medical electronic stuff as well like diabetes patches/sensors. A huge step in the right direction though.

Or we could take the control of healthcare prices out of the hands of private companies altogether. That might be better.

What in the actual fuck does this mean? Regulations would PREVENT this from happening. It happens BECAUSE capitalism. Everyone is so shocked in this topic because billionaires usually stick together and price fix. Regulations would prevent monopolies and price fixing, which is the inevitable conclusion of unregulated capitalism.

Like, this is probably a troll post, but if it's not I'd really like you to explain how this makes sense in your head lol. What regulations prevented someone from undercutting the monopolies, in when did they get repealed so Mark Cuban could come along and save the day?

I wish someone would do this with insulin, which should be dirt cheap.
Man,I try keeping out hope that one day it will. Since becoming Type 2, I've been having stress about making sure I have enough for my insulin and tablets.

It looks like you just make an account, send them your prescriptions, then they send you an email to confirm payment. And your meds get shipped

I always knew the cost was bad but many of the price differentials here is truly staggering.

With a cheap alternative finally big pherma and insurances company's may be pressured to finally follow suit.

Hell his company could be what robinhood was for investing.

This is what excites me tbh.

If people start to realize prices are artificial, maybe actual change can happen.

Im sharing this to friends/family. Awesome find, TC.

No joke, even over the counter stuff at the grocery store has markups in the 10,000% range.

$3.99 should buy you ibuprofen for life.
CVS and Walgreens also markup more than independent pharmacies for some goddamn reason.

Prices are this way because you charge a dollar, but private insurance pays a quarter and medicaid pays a dime.
It's the people who get neither who end up fucked.

Or when insurance decides that there is "no medical reason" for your prescription that a doctor fucking prescribed and won't pay for it.

https://www.singlecare.com/blog/insulin-prices/

And, unfortunately, insulin prices have risen dramatically over the past 10 years. Between 2012 and 2016, the price almost doubled, according to the Health Care Cost Institute. In 2012, the average cost of insulin per diabetes patient was $2,864 per year. By 2016, it had risen to $5,705. Today, one vial of insulin can cost $250, and some people need six vials per month.

How much does it cost to produce insulin?
A 2018 study estimated that one vial of human insulin costs $2.28-$3.42 to produce, and one vial of analog insulin costs $3.69-$6.16 to produce. The study revealed that a years supply of human insulin could cost $48-$71 per patient, and analog insulin could cost $78-$133 per patient per year.
The study measured the manufacturing cost only. It did not include administrative fees, sales, and research and development for improving medications. However, insulin manufacturers have not provided an adequate explanation for this large discrepancy between production costs and retail costs.

To MAKE insulin only cost like $3

they price it at $250
