I was sweating lol.

The other day, it was "Light." I got to _ight by guess #3, then used up every other guess getting to that and still had 2-3 more "_ight" words I could have guessed, which was just evil.

The first game I played was on the official wordle site and I didn't quite grasp the rules so that's why I chose moist first on the unlimited site. It was just fresh in my head. I didn't know there was one word a day on the official one I hadn't played it before

The past five or six puzzles I've got in 3 tries apiece. Oddly enough, for several of those I had had 4 right on the second try.

I tried the LotR-themed one yesterday, which took me 5 tries. Given that it avoids conventional words and relies a lot on LotR things (which I guess I don't remember well), I probably won't keep up with that.

Probably because it has the most vowels

Yeah, adieu + a word with 'o' and 'y' clears up all the vowels, which narrows the options down a lot

I've been starting with "arise." Knocks out three vowels, plus R and S (which I believe are the 4th- and 5th-most common letters in the language, after E, T, and A). Following that up with "mount" knocks out the remaining non-Y vowels, plus T, M, and N are also very common letters (and doing "sound" or "round" is an option if S or R were confirmed in the first try). "Adieu" is also a good choice for vowels. "Bayou" can serve a similar purpose, though I believe "Adieu" hits more common letters.

I feel like doing a word with almost all of the vowels is a waste, because it doesn't give you much to go on. When I look at one like Seph's, that feels like a series of longshots rather than deduction.

I like STARE, then CHIMP myself. I figure that gives me a good enough idea of the vowels plus a good number of consonants. Sometimes WOULD third if I'm really striking out.

But yeah, it's pretty easy with those.

I'd say figuring out the vowels early goes a long way. For #229, I learned that there's only one vowel, which means that consonants are going to have to get paired up, and there's only so many consonant pairings you can do that make sense. It was a bit of luck in having it be my third guess but I did spend some time plugging in letters to find an acceptable word.

I just started playing about a week or so ago (8 days ago I guess), I don't have set words I start with yet but usually it's something like Bread , that gets me 2 vowels and r s or t at least. I base the second word off whatever I get in the first, so it's not a set guess for sure.

I got lucky once and got the word on my second guess lol. 50% of the time I have answered in 3 or less guesses though and 1 time it took 5. I don't see it almost every taking 5 to be honest, I just guessed the wrong letter with two options. It was some wierd rarely used word that was very unlikely (don't remember but I guessed the most likely one as my 4th and then the other possible vowel combination which is never really used as my 5th.

Friend posted it to facebook like 8 days ago and so I started playing it as well, really strange it showed up on here within a week after that!

It exploded out of nowhere. I think I only heard about it in the last two weeks... and then the fucking NYT has to buy it.

I've played 10, had six 3s, two 4s, one 5, and -- before I realized you were limited to 6 guesses -- I had one loss. All of my recent solves have been 3s.

My 5 was "perky." Prior to that last guess, I'd said "jerky."

I recently saw that you're supposed to start with "irate" because it has the most common vowels and consonants in English. So I did that today for the first time and got it in 4, but I've gotten it in 4 before (also once in 3).
