Recently, Ive been watching lots of shows and stuff on NetFlix. Many are in their languages. Personally, I like to watch them in their own languages. And for a few reasons. One is the words not matching the mouth most of the time. Which makes sense considering they are speaking in another language. The next is the voice not almost matching the characters. Which makes sense, as well, seeing as its not their voice (though some can match close enough). But I think one of the biggest reasons is the voices themselves. They never seem to have any emotion Its weird, and I dont think I like it. I kind of wonder if its on purpose to make people watch it in the original language, tbh Or if its just certain shows or something Thoughts on this? --- Official King of Kings Switch FC: 7216-4417-4511 Add Me because I'll probably add you. Shows is other languages in English. . . tbh, the topic title still has me scratching my head >_< LinkPizza posted... One is the words not matching the mouth most of the time. Which makes sense, as well, seeing as its not their voice (though some can match close enough). When it comes to animation, the mouth thing is less of an issue. However, I'll mention that some peoples' *natural* voices don't match their appearance. For example, guys like Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley where they look badass, but sound eh. LinkPizza posted... That said, it mightve because if I heard the real voice first, then next one sounds off But its true that animation isnt as bad since they arent always moving there mouths in certain ways It just depends for those The_Viscount posted... It depends on the show, and the original might not have emotion (or the appropriate level of emotion) but you're less likely to notice it because you aren't familiar enough with the language. I feel like most people who praise original VA-work lack the context to really determine the quality because they don't have a strong enough familiarity with the language. At most, they might be comparing it to other shows, which is a terrible benchmark since none of them might be great acting and it throws off expectations. The originals usually have the right amount (of the amount I would expect) Its usually a discrepancy between the original and the dubs. I dont mean to say Im only listening to the dubs Haha. Its less emotion from the original But it could be a lack of the other language. But I dont think it would change it that much. Plus, it would be weird if all the shows I was watching (a lot) all had characters with no emotion. --- Official King of Kings Switch FC: 7216-4417-4511 Add Me because I'll probably add you. The_Viscount posted... I half-assumed that was a typo, but even then the sentence is weird. Idk. Sounds fine to me. It wasnt suppose to be a full sentence, though The_Viscount posted... Then don't listen to the original first? Tbh, Im never really sure of the language before I start. Sometimes, I start while working. Then, I look and notice the word not matching the mouth. Sometimes, I notice before I look based on the emotionless words. But like I said, I dont mind watching in the original language. I usually liken it better. But it could help when I have lots of work. I can usually work while watching without looking at what Im typing the whole time. But it could help when work is heavy, and Im fixing other peoples mistakes. Haha. The_Viscount posted... Well, they can also have the wrong emotion. Maybe. Cant say for sure. But it sounds like the right emotion when watching it. You can kind of feel it in the words. But I never get that feeling from the dubs ReturnOfFa posted... I like having the option. Sometimes I am doing other stuff while the TV/Computer is playing a show. I need it in my language if I am busy doing other stuff like cleaning house, doing laundry, washing dishes and so on. If the TV/Computer has my undivided attention I don't mind reading sub titles. I watch a lot of anime and old kung fu movies like that. --- To Punish and Enslave Barricade My PSN name is jbomb1234 ... Copied to Clipboard!
