How did he lose his mind, he has texts showing there was some seriously fucking shady stuff going on with the hiring practices. And he wasn't likely to get another job in the NFL so.

He hasnt got much of a case from what Ive seen and heard so far, unless he has some really damning evidence stashed away for his day in court. Otherwise hes going in with statistics that everyone already knows about, and circumstantial evidence at best. Black listing yourself from an entire league because youre mad you didnt get a job is batshit insane. Good luck to him thoughhes going to need it.

He has a text that basically proves the job was filled before his interview. The whole case is going to hinge on whether he can convince a court that was a byproduct of racism or the kind of thing you see in interviews for regular companies.

Exactly my point. Sports teams have a list of targets in ranking order, and they do this at all levels. This is standard practice and has been for a long time. So unless he can prove that they had no interest in him other than fulfilling the requirements of the Rooney Rule, hes pretty much cancelled himself out of ANY potential job. And he still had the Saints that havent made a decision yet.

So still a byproduct of racism.

No, that's not what I meant. Sometimes you're interviewing for a position and you've got, say, 5 candidates and the perfect candidate comes in at spot number 2. You still hold the other interviews in case someone really surprises you, but sometimes that's more of a formality. It has nothing to do with race (in the generic case). The Flores case is different, though, specifically because of the Rooney rule because his race factors directly into the interview from the start.

Pretty much all head coaching jobs have a preferred candidate before the process even begins. This is nothing new. There was just an article about how the Vikings were really interested in Jim Harbaugh to coach for them. They already know who they want, but they still need to go through the process of interviewing by the rules. I'm sure all the candidates who interview for the Vikings know that if Harbaugh says yes, they have no chance for the job.

They already had a decision on their coach before he interviewed with them.

Stop with this disingenuous bullshit

I couldn't imagine what kind of brain you'd need to think he's "lost his mind"

Like he very obviously thinks some shady shit went down with his hiring, and thinks he has enough evidence to warrant a case in regards to that. Its pretty clear cut.

Although he may be incorrect, and it might be proven otherwise, none of the above should lead someone to think they've "lost their mind"

Without it youd never see black coaches even getting interviewed. It is necessary, but theres nothing to force the hiring of these coaches. The only way you can get impartial bias is through an outside committee or firm coming in and conducting the search for the organization, but it is still ultimately left up to the owner and GM.

The rule itself isn't the problem. Obviously teams are abusing it and giving sham interviews to coaches like Flores or any of the other black coaches in the league but that's a byproduct of the NFL being a old boys club full of nepotism.
