Does he look too fat to go into space to you?

43 y/o Airline Hippo PILOT, Kyle Hippchen from Florida was ecstatic when he won a raffle ticket to be part of the inspirational crew on SpaceX's first tourist flight...but unfortunately for the 5'10 man who weighed 330lbs, he exceeded the 250lb weight limit and was denied a chance to go up there..so he gave up his ticket to his skinny 42 y/o college roomate, Chris Sembroski instead.

The data engineer in Everett Washington went while Hippchen watched from a VIP balcony as the pain of missing out in a once in a lifetime trip still hasn't hit him as he's unable to bring himself to watch the netflix series about the flight

He said "It hurts so much. I'm insanely disappointed but it is what it is"

The florida captain flies for delta's regional carreir Endeavor Air and shared his story on losing out on the ride when the out of the blue dream come true windfall came true on the expensive journey

He dreamed of going to space and thought this was lucky break and didn't realize that his weight would hold him back. He didnt' tell people about this until later on when netflix aired the documentary of the crew he was supposed to be part of because he was ashamed that his weight held him back

He and Chris even belonged to a space advocacy group going to washington to push space travel and now he's learned that his weight will hold him back if he ever wants to get there.

Hippchen put in 600 worth of entries into this contest while his friend, Chris who was about to start a job at Locheed Martin put in 50 dolars worth

With 72,000 entries, hippchen was chosen and he couldn't have been ecstatic but his dream of going up there went up in smoke and had to pull out

He hoped to drop 80lbs to get up there in 6 months but alas it coudn't help as not ven the most healthy person could do that in such a short time frame given his busy work schedule

He still hasn't given up his dream to go up in space but this onc ein a lifetime chance will forever haunt him.

Unlikely. Ten years ago, the prospect of a random nobody getting to go to space was almost inconceivable. He's probably got at least 20-30 years left, and I expect he'll get more chances in that time.

Why can't he just lose weight? It'd take a year to lose that weight. If it's truly his dream he wouldn't sacrifice some excess food for it?

The article already said why he couldn't lose enough weight on time.
