This is probably bait, but sadly a sizable amount of people believe this is a sensible question, and that belief gets echoed by tons of alt-right nerd social media. It's crazy the cognitive dissonance people can hold, to complain about a comic showing a hero's dating and family life when the most celebrated superhero ever, Spider-man, his whole shtick is protecting the people he dates and aunt may from his villain cast.

Yeah it's the most disingenuous bullshit when people posit this as a legitimate critique. All comics are filled with slice of life issues, and plots that have little or nothing to do with people's role as superhero.

Like...my favorite superhero stories are the ones that actually involve their personal lives. If it's just about fighting monsters to save the planet then where are the personal stakes of being a superhero? Everyone is still a person.

I'm watching that Superman & Lois show and it really gets that aspect of it. Meanwhile The Flash and Arrow eventually reached the point where everyone is on a superhero team and the plots just start to flounder.

I mean, for fucks sake, yeah, sometimes it takes a crisis to cause people to reflect and reevaluate their strongly held opinions. A lot of people dont ever even get to that point. Hell, Im willing to bet some of you whiners would be super reluctant to change or at least compromise some of your own views to try and make peace.

Speaking for myself, the panels make me upset, but I'm not upset at like... the writer or anything. I'm just upset for the characters and how well this depicts these situations where it comes to abuse.

In fact, I think the writer and artist did a very good job of depicting the abuse that can come from these situations. That doesn't mean I can't be upset at the situation, because I believe it is a depiction that feels real and true to life. Like I feel it's good to have an emotional response to this.

And same to the later panels. The situation as a whole is left ambiguous but it can be read many ways, as I stated.

And not for nothing, but this whole "I bet you guys are bad people too" is just... childish.
