Dread speedrunning going to set some bad precedents for modern technology. A controller that takes enough inputs per second consistently for mashing is going to end up being necessary(The pro controller apparently starts dropping inputs). It sucks cause mashing helps for 99% of the game but doesn't become game breaking til you hit the amount of inputs needed to 1 counter RB.

I have been playing this game non-stop for the past few days (only like an hour or two per day, though).

This is truly an amazing game, and it has lived up to the hype of the name "Dread".

I'm pretty sure I'm just right before the final boss battle, but I have been taking my time exploring and getting all the items, so I can finish the game with 100%.

Some of the Speed Booster/Shinespark puzzles are fun, but there are a couple that had me looking up YouTube videos to see how the hell I could get them done.

I just don't want this game to end.

I actually don't think "Dread" is a good name for the game at all. I would classify the Emmi sections as being 75% Stealth, 25% Playing Tag, 0% Horror. I'm surprised anyone would find them scary, beyond how much any other Stealth game would be scary.

Especially when compared to the SA-X sections of Fusion. Just thinking about the echoing stomps of those boots makes me uneasy.

I might even say the Zero Suit section of Zero Mission was scarier, since you have no suit, feels so vulnerable.

but EMMIs absolutely do give tension, because yes they are a likely death on capture but also you're still engaged to try and get away with the random counter timings

Going invisible in an EMMI section is literally the same thing as SA-X. But overall I think the dread comes more from the mystery of RB and the bottom-up climbing of the map. You never see your ship until the last scene

A gamble?

Probably my least favorite part about this game is the fact that EMMI know where you are 90% of the time when you are doing the invisible thing
I mean I realize why they did it, it would be too easy otherwise. But it's still annoying
No idea how they could have fixed it though

There were 1 or two SA-X sections that required some thought but for the most part it just slowed the game down to a crawl for a moment.

Played Fusion for the first time before Dread, SA-X really wasn't all that present.

You're prob doing something wrong, they're designed to go away if you go invisible in a spot that wasn't on their planned path

Beat the game.

That was a fun final battle and surprisingly easy compared some of the others.

I knew it wad coming,but holy hell that Metroid Suit looked sick as hell.

This is definitely one of my favorite games in a long, long time.

Got this a few days ago and Im almost done; just going back and collecting upgrades before proceeding to (presumably) the final boss.

Is there no way to uncover a map tile under a moved grapple beam box? This one unfilled tile is going to drive me insane

They were small enough for me to mostly ignore early in the game, but with the space jump theyre not that hard to fill in as you go back to collect power ups. I didnt notice that you could lock yourself out of tiles until I had already totally filled in a few zones, though.

I had a bit of this impulse early game but the scale quickly put this to the back of my mind.

I feel like there is a consensus that this is the hardest boss in the game
But maybe because you went for 100% before facing it, it made it easier for you?

First two tries I didn't even make past phase 1. Then I beat it third try.

I spent a lot of tries on Kraid and Experiment No. Z-57.

I feel like his damage output is more forgiving, compared to the chozosoldiers and the Experiment boss.
But I imagine thats to trade off with it having 3 phases.

Another game update
Ver 1.0.3

Fixed an issue where Samus damage detection would disappear under certain conditions.

  • "We made the decision to fix this issue because there is a possibility that it may occur unintentionally, and if it does, it will result in a play experience that is far different from the way Metroid Dread was originally intended to be experienced."
