Sure. It's gonna happen either way, it'll just be a test to see how well people can keep it hidden.

No. You shouldn't form intimate relationships with a co-worker if you can help it (at least not on-site) but it can be used to unjustly fire an employee. I'd rather not give an employer the power to fire an employee because he decided to have a bit of banter with another and they used that as justification.

I don't think people should date co-workers anyway. It has way too many possibilities to turn into something really toxic.

I won't date a coworker anyway. As a teacher in a high school, that would draw attention and rumours from students, and that's really something I don't need. Especially if the relationship doesn't last.

If there is even a one in a thousand chance I could smash some pussy at work, I will do everything in my power to make that dream a reality.

Otherwise I wouldn't even get out of bed fuck that noise.

I have no idea whether or not he's a racist, but apparently there are recordings of him using racial slurs so it's a distinct possibility.

This. You never know when you meet someone you fall for and I'd hate for one of us to move jobs just to be together. Even more so when we both presumably would be grown adults.

Hard to say. On one hand, avoiding relationships with coworkers is generally a really good idea, since that can lead to all sorts of messy situations (conflicts of interest, difficulties working together if they break up, etc.). On the other, I don't think it's the employer's place to presume that nobody will be mature enough to handle it and to ban it outright because of that. I think the employer should enact policies that prevent conflicts of interest from arising (no managing your partner/ex, basically), but I don't think forbidding them outright is reasonable.

It kinda depends, actually. Technically speaking an employer can fire 'at will' but if the employee can show that said firing was, say, discriminatory they can successfully sue the company. Which is why having an excuse like 'they were flirting with another employee' would be valuable. Because if your boss invokes his 'fire at will' for reasons that are unjust you can at the least sue him. You probably won't get your job back but you can at least earn some money or tarnish the name a bit.

Basically, if your boss fires you because he thinks you're doing terrible and dropped a pickle jar, nothing can be done about it. If your boss fires you because he's a racist and invoking the clause and using the 'relationship with other employee' as justification and you can prove it, you can sue him.

I don't really see how mature people could have a problem with such rules. I mean no one really cares when low level employees date typically, but it becomes a serious problem when it comes to leadership. Like if you date someone the two of you break up and then one of you gets a promotion later on to make the other a subordinate it's just overtly clear how it quickly becomes a problem if there starts being claims that there is revenge being taken using the position. Just common drama is bad enough to want to make an effort to ban relationships between employees, but drama isn't the limit to the problems.

Does anyone know of the opposite, where maybe some HR person says it may be okay depending on whether or not someone is managing the other person? I have always heard it was a bad idea to do this and so I believed it. But now Im not so sure. I think it might be okay as long as one of them is not evaluating the work of the other because people can think theres favoritism or sexual harassment.
