cjsdowg 09/15/21 8:34:37 AM #1:	Having Children on the ships is just mind blowing bad. If they had kids on Voyager, this would work because they were just a science ship. But they have the Enterprise a ship that will be going into danger over and over. To have kids there is just wrong. This clip from Lower Kids paints this out in a such a funny way. https://youtu.be/_3hyn0ppYsI?t=51 Also in this show Lower Decks there is a character named Mariner, she on the surface she looks like she is this OP character and such can fight really well and stuff. But when you look deeper she is a is a very messed up character. There is trauma there that impacts how she functions. The show has shown us a little bit of this. But a fan Theory is that she was a child on the Enterprise (lol). And while I never put much stock into fan theroies it so adds up to explain her hang up and need for therapy . --- To be a poor man is hard, but to be a poor race in a land of dollars is the very bottom of hardships. I could live with it more if they separated the saucer section more, but they only did it a relative handful of times in the show. Still, that's nothing compared to Discovery/Picard. Even ones for things like naval purposes. Or piracy, even. It's definitely a bad idea when it's the Enterprise since it's the most prized target to take down. They seem to be friends and care about each other. And honestly for a comedy show, when they have a debate or issues. Most times I can see both sides of the argument. Not to rag on other new Trek. But a lot of the BS that happens in Picard just seems out there. Like everything that it is built on, just seems like what the heck. Also Picard wasn't Data's best friend. I think the saucer separation was meant for times when it wouldn't make sense for the civilians to be involved, but it was deemed too expensive to keep up with. Like there's even an early episode where Riker and Picard get all pissy about having to perform military training exercises. I believe that after the attempted Borg invasion and the emergence of the Dominion threat, Starfleet stopped putting children on starships. You mentioned that the intrepid class starship having kids would make sense because it was a science vessel. Back to my first point, the Galaxy class starship was meant to act as a science vessel among a multitude of other things. Which is why it was so flawed.
