working under cover in a warehouse getting actually paid is a lot better being outside in the hot weather picking in the rice fields and getting my paid less

I know a number of companies that have since eliminated unnecessary office space after coming to terms that some departments do not need to physically report to work.

Obviously, this does not nor cannot apply to every job and function, but maintaining something just for the sake of it rarely yields improvement.

As a counter to this.... as a software developer I've known multiple people that have either quit for a new job or gotten permission to WFH permanently post covid. In this industry at least there has been a big shift as a result of the covid restrictions.

Ive worked from home for a total of three days now and Im never fucking going back, god damn it

This shit is magical.

I can sleep for an extra hour because I dont have to worry about traffic so Im way more energetic and way less anxious

If I need to take a shit I can do it without worrying about all the stalls being taken or that guy with a poor diet from accounting stinking up the place next to me

I dont have to worry about what food is available in the break room because the break room is my own kitchen and I know exactly whats in there

I can wear my pajama pants and a nice polo as my work uniform because no one sees me below the chest anymore

Im not freezing to death because office environments are always cold as fuck for some reason and I can control my own thermostat now

I can have a TV on in the background playing whatever I want instead of staring at a cubicle wall when Im waiting for work to do

I dont have to engage in awkward small talk if I run into coworkers in the hallway because the only beings I run into in the hallway are my dogs

Its the best damn thing ever and I love it

Im excited to see how long a tank of gas lasts now. Id fill up every Friday at about 1/4 tank. Just filled up my car this morning and parked it in the garage and I dont expect to need to fill it up again for at least a month

I used to have to go five days a week. Right now we aren't due until maybe next year and we will now only ever have to go back one day a week. Companies not on board will not be competitive trust me.
