Some people are picking their teams right away to eliminate bias, I prefer to challenge rule 4 right away in a year where the Rams could be pretty good. But really, it's a pick against the team that's putting up a sacrifice to Aaron Donald and the gods of uncertainty. Now that things have finally settled, it looks like the final Vegas odds given San Francisco the largest point spread to beat, followed by the Rams and then Buffalo and Kansas City. Only the first two have more than a touchdown spread, though. In the absence of previous weeks of the season to go off, this is probably as good of an outside opinion as I think we're likely to find. (This was how I picked the Niners two weeks ago, but it's nice to see things haven't changed.)

That 49ers spread is insane to me for a road team that was 6-10 last year. And they play plenty of other bad teams later if they do turn out to be good again. The 49ers were incredibly injured last year, so they're better than a 6-10 team. The Lions are going to be a bottom 5 team by any metric. They're clearly rebuilding.
