Funny enough, the only reason Shiva is in the game is to appease people who were upset about a white guy killing African zombies. Originally it was Jill & Chris as a throwback to RE1 - but she ends not being playable until DLC (and being tacked on as Wesker's mind controlled slave).

I remember at the time thinking it was dumb, complaining about shooting black people in africa, i was like they didnt have a problem shooting the spanish people in spain. But then you get to the grass skirt tribal people. wearing masks, chucking spears in barefoot making "woo woo woo woo" sounds in their mud hut village then you are kind of like "oh..."

Sheva was always gonna be in the game but she was originally designed to be a Ada Wong type and helps you out at certain points in the game rather than being a full on co-op partner

this was my problem with them actually, tone-deaf as fuck

if people are calling Genshin Impact racists because Hillichurl movements are only inspired by Natives, I have no idea why this is considered okay just because people weren't as reactionary as they are now
