I've seen a number of temp workers at my workplace and the ones that dress inappropriately don't usually last more than a week - it leaves a bad taste in the manager's mouths. I've also never heard of any workplace allowing shorts and a t-shirt as acceptable dress. I know Walmart sells long khakis and polos for 20 bucks total and that'll serve you well.
