Temp agency texted me that tomorrow is my last day. No explanation, no clue what happened. I've had next to no feedback beyond dress code, which I explained was because I don't have better clothes that fit and was planning on getting them when I got paid.

I had shorts and a life is good shirt. It's a split job, and I thought I'd be just in the back doing call center work but they had me up front. Nothing at all offensive about it.

Not trying to be a smart ass at all, but doesn't the temp part of temp agency mean temporary? I thought this is just how they worked, it is when my brother was working through one. They just shuffled him between jobs, one day's notice and he might be off with a different company the next day.

So, it was the temp agency that texted me. The employer gave them feedback and said I was to turn in the badge. I asked for more info, don't know if I'll get a response tonight.

This. When I was a temp for a year, I worked at many different places that ranged to a single day to a couple of months.

This was a brand new job. I just finished training and was contracted through December.

Everyone else was better dressed. It was a legitimate criticism and I apologized, explained, and then improved.

Up front I was just greeting people. It's an unemployment office(lol) that just reopened to the public, and in all the time I've been working there I've interacted with maybe a half dozen people that didn't work there.

I didn't because I shouldn't have needed to. I was supposed to already have been paid, but they fucked up my direct deposit so they mailed a check instead, still haven't gotten it.

I work for a temp agency right now (just got back to NH 3 weeks ago, it was the quickest way to get work).

Always ask these questions when working for one:
What's the job?
Where's the job?
How much pay?
What's the dress code?
What's the start/stop time?
Who do you report to?

I always ask those questions but mines day jobs; right now I'm barbacking at concerts. Trying to get a job at Sazerac for $18/hour which is temp to hire, but I'm waiting on my interview.

So you had actually somewhat decent office clothes and STILL chose to wear shorts and a tee shirt with words on it? I'm sorry but this is absolutely fairest of next. You didn't know you were trying to get a job at some point that would need more than shorts and a tee shirt? At no point since you've been laid off / fired did you think I should wash my long pants and maybe spend 10 bucks at walmart on a decent shirt. I don't think there's a job in the country that involves those clothes unless you work at a shop on the beach.

I honestly don't care if they fired you by homing pigeon. Absolutely fair, next. It isn't about being offensive or not. It's about them wanting to put up SOMEWHAT of a good public face and shorts and a tee shirt for their receptionist isn't that.

I got hired for a call center job. My clothes are absolutely fine for that. What I didn't realize is that I'd be working up front and interacting with customers. I wasn't supposed to be, but they pulled me from.my group to fill a slot for a callout.

FYI there are offices with extremely relaxed dress codes. Im working at my desk in shorts and a t shirt and sneakers rn. But you always gotta dress up nice first day even if you know the dress code is relaxed. First impressions matter

I mostly where rinkle-free polyester polo shits these days. I only buy them when they're on sale too, I never pay more than 20 bucks for them.

My last two call center jobs were 100% ok with what I was wearing. Prior to that, I worked in drug addiction recovery, which was the same.

I didn't have decent ones. I bought an ok shirt that I didn't really have money for and dug up some pants that are better but still not in dress code.
