I think its time we realize that the difference between youtube and netflix is merely cosmetic.

Netflix honestly is not that great, i would say youtube is actually much better and has better content. Its just a matter of finding the content on youtube that is difficult. You cannot browse youtube like you do netflix, netflix is much more user friendly in that sense, high caliber content gets pushed to the top. For youtube high caliber content is whatever the algorithm suggests and the users are searching for.

I find that curated YouTube subscriptions are entirely more watchable than a lot of the TV I've watched recently.

Not to say it's been bad TV, it's just that I routinely get new content I specifically know I enjoy. Plus you can watch everything ever on the internet anyway, so streaming services feel kind of moot.

There is no doubt youtube is superior to television. The question is whether it is better than netflix? I think if you give creators like 3 more years and the bigger ones will have enough of a budget to compete with professional shows. I also think youtube even has some things you can only watch if you have a premium membership, most of that stuff is actually pretty good.
