Skelegod with the big H on his chest has been sitting on every Target endcap across America for weeks now. Before that he was in a big toy announcement by Mattel. Then he started showing up in toy reviews on YouTube. By the time you hit episode 5 and he still hasn't shown up then it's not hard to see what's about to go down.

I mean they definitely looked up what little lore existed for some of these characters and played with it.

One in particular being the fact that just what the heck is Scare Glow? He was released as a toy before he could get any serious amount of lore so people had a bunch of theories about him being a time-displaced Skeletor from the future.

I just finished it. Thought it was pretty decent. Nothing groundbreaking. Theres definite room for improvement. My biggest gripes were 1) while the visuals were good, I didnt think the actual animation was very good at all, and 2) as mentioned before, Teslas voice doesnt match her character at all. Also, while I was excited for Mark Hamil as Skeletor, he pretty much just used the Joker voice, with some very tiny alterations. I preferred the Skeletor voice during the episode when they were in Hell, trying to get half the sword back.

Honestly I think Mark Hamill was perfect and it's based on two things.

1. This series wanted to establish Skeletor as a credible threat, which he very rarely was in the 80's series.
2. They did not want to completely abandon the camp that Alan Oppenheimer brought to the character, which (as I recall, it's been a while) they did for the '02 series.

So, camp and credible threat to the heroes. Who better than the Joker?

But otherwise I'm with you on the animation. My least favorite scene was the boat fight in Episode 3, where you can see two characters fighting at a time while others are just standing around, despite it ostensibly being a big donnybrook.

I think Hamills portrayal was awful. Not to say he did a bad job. Its just so painfully average. And the last thing you want to be when playing a villain is middle of the road average. Average is forgettable. Average is boring. Its better to be horrible than average.

There is never anything average about Hamill's performances. I mean call it derivative if you must, but c'mon, let's properly contextualize our criticisms here.

I think its good in a vacuum, and that voice can definitely work for Skeletor. My issue with it was just how very similar it was to his Joker. He didnt do enough to differentiate it. When Skeletor spoke, it made me think of a different show.

It was great to finally see Scare glow in animation and that fight between him and Orko was amazing. And Tony Todd was the perfect voice for him.

Loved all five episodes. My biggest problem was was Netflix had to split a ten episode miniseries in half.

That was Scare Glow, a character introduced in the toy line too late to be adapted into the original cartoon.
