Can't remember the last time I went to a theater.

Or watched any movie, for that matter.

This.

So I guess 21/month but I try and see at least 1 movie a week so it's $5.25 per ticket (or less) most months.

Well I thought it was under $10 but matinee pricing for Black Widow was $11.25, so I guess that's not even cheap anymore.

$16 - $22 or so, depending on the theater

I miss when we had matinee pricing, many years ago.

Holy shit some of the prices for you guys. But also, are you listing just a single ticket at $20? Or are you taking into account food or drink or whatever?

Anyway, I generally try to go to matinees so like $7.50 or so? On the rare occasion I do go at night, it's $12 at most.

A single non-matinee ticket is $20 where I live. IMAX is more expensive. When I went to see Black Widow the time I chose turned out to be in a "premier" theater that cost $30 a ticket. The only difference I noticed was the seats were cushy and could recline.

These are the prices at my local theater. Haven't been in a long time, though, as I don't really enjoy the theater experience.

Adult - $8.50
Child/Senior/Military - $6.50
3D - $2.00 surcharge

Bargain Tuesdays - $4.00

All Ages Matinees (Before 6:00 pm) - $6.50

Nearest AMC is $10 for standard and $13 for real 3D. That's where I usually go since it's like 1 mile from my house.

Nearest Cinemark is $10.50 for standard, $13.50 for real 3D and $14 for XD. The Cinemark at Universal which I guess is technically closer but I never go there because of parking and tourists charges an extra 25c per ticket.

Local family run cinema charges $8.50 a ticket. It's as close as the AMC but I've never been here, I probably should at some point.

The artsy theater that shows like old movies or classics or whatever is $12 a ticket.

Nearest Cinepolis is $13 which I feel is a lot cheaper than the last time I went. I want to say it was like $20 last time I went there before COVID

During the start of COVID they had a drive through cinema in a car par that was like $10 per car. Not sure if they still do that, we only went the once

EDIT: Pre-COVID I used to go exclusively on Tuesday and pay $5 per ticket but it seems they stopped doing this after COVID. I also realized I forgot about the cinema downtown which was like $8 per ticket.

There's like 8+ cinemas within an 8 mile radius of me which I guess explains why they are rarely packed even pre-COVID

checking my local cinema's website...

$13(nzd) before 5pm and $16 after, so not bad
U15s are $11, 3 and under are free, and there are moderate family discounts too ($40/$44 for 4 before/after 5 again)

better than i expected really, i think it was a little higher in the past

i suppose they compensate for it with the cafe prices (generally about $16+ day menu, $24+ evening and even most sides/entrees like garlic bread over $10...)

8-12 (so about $9.50-14 USD), this being in a ludicrously expensive capital city, wtf at some of the prices in here. I love the cinema experience and would much rather view films there than at home but looking at these prices and listening to stories online especially from America, so I guess Ive been lucky.

With that said, there is a cinema where tickets are 19 but it is clearly intended as a premium experience, massive armchairs, leg rests and so on.

Isn't that the norm nowadays? Every major chain cinema near me is like that. I'd say maybe its a US thing but even before I emigrated in 2012 the major chain cinemas near me in England were like that too

I had no idea tickets got that expensive in other parts of the US. No wonder Disney+ gets away with charging $30 for Black Widow and their other premier movies. For me, that's a ridiculous price, but for so many others, is practically the price of a ticket, oof.

Matinees by me at the local historic theatre are 5USD, after 5:00PM is 7USD. You're talking ticket price only, right? I always get popcorn and/or a drink, that's another 5-7USD per item.
