Yeah Troy's departure is a pretty sizeable loss. Show is still good, I liked Buzz and Frankie in their respective seasons, but overall it's impossible to replace Troy and Pierce.

Meh, not really

It has a lot of "omg aren't we so wacky!?!? Lulz! Look we're acknowledging racial stereotypes and tropes lololllolo fart purple pony oh look here's (C list celebrity ) doing something wacky! now lets put on a peanut butter bar costume!" style humor

And it gets grating. It had some really funny moments but you'll get sick of it if you binge watch it. it's incredibly cringey and repetitive and stupid.

Plus pretty much every single character is an asshole which is pretty grating

There's a ton of far superior sitcoms worth your time

Red Dwarf , Fraiser, Still Game

Heck even Rick and Morty or Superstore is better

I think the first 3 seasons are definitely worthwhile.

Like nearly all comedies it goes too long and they start recycling some ideas and cast members leave and are replaced.

Name one thing in community that was as genuinely emotional and in some ways relatable than the ICE raid and aftermath that risked Matteo being deported

if that was Community they would have solved it by dressing up as carebears, pissing their pants and a whining about white people, then never mentioning it again except maybe 1 call back where one character lampshades that they never talk about it as a joke

Which is fine I guess but as I said theres just so much stuff thats better

Workplace comedy featuring an ensemble cast with a poor boss and others surrounding him that would do the job better but is still beloved. You have characters that are legitimate criminals, a character who takes the job and their authority way too seriously, those who are good at the job but kinda aloof and dont try hard.

I will say it doesn't normally stray into cringe territory like you see now and then on The Office. While it is not done as a documentary style show, I feel a lot of the elements are there. Not to say that The Office created those tropes, but felt it was a rather strong inspiration.

Glenn wasn't a poor boss, he was just a weirdo.

What the workplace is , the characters, the tone,the filming style , it's all completely different

Superstore is a lot more generic for better and worse

Feels like saying Passion of The Christ and Schindler's list are the same because they both feature a big bunch of jerks, eccentric heroes and casual brutality

That's a super vague net to compare 2 different things that are a lot like other things

Community is entertaining, I started binging it but quickly got sick of it so I stopped for several months. I went back and really enjoyed it for a while but I did have to sort of force my way through it towards the end.

Overall I did enjoy it but other posters are correct, there is a lot of repetition but they are aware and even draw attention to it sometimes. It can just be super obvious when you binge it so you might get bored a bit.

nah this is cap. yes there's a dropoff but it's still a good show and even seasons 4-6 are better than 90% of the drech that is sharted out on network television

Lmao Superstore has a similar issue when Amy leaves but 100x worse. The show never recovered and she wasn't even all that funny of a character. Dunno how they managed that.

Season 6 was a real strong bounce back after the awful season 4 and forgettable season 5.

But yes, I have watched s1-3 multiple times and I'm not tired of it.

The last season was worse than the "gas leak" season. Dan Harmon being back as the showrunner had absolutely no effect on its quality. It was missing too many major cast members, and the stretched runtime made the episodes drag.

Its unwatchable without them

Yeah watching without Pearce is like "huh, this show is weirdly better I wonder why- oh" and watching without Troy is like "wow, this show is much worse"

Heh just kiddin I actually like Pearce though, at least in the first 2ish seasons, regardless of the Harmon drama on set.

I disliked season 5, which tried way too hard to overcorrect the downgrade of season 4 while being smug about it, but I liked season 6. Not so much at the time, but over the years I've weirdly found 6 to be good, with its overly meta weirdness.

Plus, Paget Brewster in season 6 was a surprisingly great cast, really loved her. And they even had mutha effin Keith David, the voice of Goliath! That makes season 6 amazing.

S4 is same but more miss than hit. Completely carried by the cast

S5 was eh

you are like the first person i've ever heard that thinks the 1st season is strong

all the best stuff is between season 2 and up to the first half of season 3. Season 3 has some misses but it has episodes like remedial chaos theory

Honestly, the entire show is solid.

Honestly, Pierce was one of my favorite characters. Old racist white guy who also says sexist and dumb things? Sign me up!

Community was a great show because the OG cast so well-balanced in the beginning. But once characters started leaving, it very quickly went downhill because the balance was lost.
