Its not a racist effect as most female athletes who will test over the limit are XXY. They have the option to take a simple birth control pill that will literally get them under the limit and make the CHOICE not to despite KNOWING what the rules are. These women can and ARE still competing in the 200m in the olympics.

no, you need to explain why you think that racist results don't inherently mean that the policy was racist, without using contrived hypotheticals
ok I'll make it real simple, the discrimination is unrelated to their race, it's because of their hormone levels, otherwise ANY discrimination could be viewed as racism, and that obviously wouldn't make sense

hope you get it now

Ok, 5 women cant run in races between 400-1600 meters. 4 of the 5 are XXY confirmed and 3 out of 5 are black. Is it racist? Or would you think the XXY had more to do with it overall?

Sorry you guys wanted testosterone levels tested so trans women couldnt compete, probably should have paid attention to your own levels before whining about theirs being an advantage that needed curtailing.

that's an incomplete view of what racism is.

again: if a policy has a racist effect (such as barring a disproportionate number of black women from participating in an event), it is a racist policy regardless of the reasoning behind it

That's also correct. It's ultimately down to them trying to punish transgender people.

So by that reasoning, if it targeted more white people then black it would equally be racist? So everything is a racist policy since some race is guaranteed to be affected at a disproportionate rate?

For sprinters? Probably higher. XXY would be far less prevalent. I think the last non-black winner of the mens 100m was in 1982.

They aren't trans-women, ftr, this is literally a matter of them being barred because they have high natural testosterone. White athletes like Phelps who have unusual body types are praised, but these women are literally banned.

...but that's what's going to start happening when you begin to change the rules. They have to make arbitrary cutoffs to avoid abuse, and unfortunately some people who would have had a natural advantage will get banned as a result. So ironically enough, guidelines designed to promote inclusion will sometimes exclude cisgendered women.

Granted, the other option is to get rid of gendered competitions and just let everybody compete for the same prizes.

That's not what they're talking about. Phelps was tested after a race and they found he had only 1/3rd the amount of lactic acid of other swimmers in the same race. This means his recovery after a workout is much faster than other athletes which means he can train more often.

It's not the same thing as being tall which gives an advantage during the game itself. Phelps has an edge on training. This is more similar to high testosterone women. Merely having high testosterone doesn't make you more athletic, but if you train to be athletic you will have better results than other women.

Seems they undershirt how much testosterone a woman can natural have. Also wasn't testosterone measured before to keep out people that use steroids or other illegal performance enhancing drugs? I mainly just think stuff like obvious abuse like in that south park episode. But at the same time soem men could have woman levels of testosterone. It's a complexe issue. I think the real danger though is mma trans athletes, as it could end up with a deadly situation, do to bone structure and stuff from high testosterone growing up and a late transition. Which then takes into the question how early should someone transition. I support trans people for sure and their rights. But their are situations in sports that can arise and effect their ability. Transitioning too early or too late. It definitely needs more research and we are all just trying to find the beat way to support them while also making sure non transitioned woman have a fair playing field as well.

covid-19 itself isn't racist, but the effect it has on a given demographic is not due exclusively to the virus itself.

for example:
the US medical system is racist
the history that leads to black and hispanic people in the US being poorer (and thus more likely to be working jobs that put them at high risk of contact with covid-19 in the first place) is racist
