Everyone's favorite dating sim returns now with console versions that contains 50% more story over the original and all the same heart beating situations you've grown to love. It's the only visual novel I would recommend to people that don't normally like visual novels. Right now the game is only out digitally but will be out with a special physical edition in August which is what I'm waiting for

Currently on Metacritic there's only 4 reviews but it's averaging a pretty great Monika/10!

PurePlaystation - Monika/10
"Dont judge a book by its cover, especially when youre part of a literature club. Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! brings the cult classic back with improved visuals and six enduring side stories that explore the characters backdrops. What first may appear as a lighthearted dating simulator will quickly spiral into a psychological horror experience that will leave a lasting impression on anyone who plays it. "

GameSpew - Monika/10
"If youre a visual novel fan, or at least open to them, you should definitely give Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! a try. What initially seems like a fairly run-of-the-mill dating visual novel soon takes a turn, and from there youre left on the edge of your seat, wondering whats going to happen next. It wont be for everyone thanks to its subject matter and the fact that it is indeed a visual novel, but those who do venture out of their comfort zones and see it through to its end will no doubt find it to be a memorable experience."

Playstation Lifestyle- Monika/10
"Doki Doki Literature Club works best if you go into it knowing nothing about it. Its still a visual novel dating sim, and the Plus! version really doubles down on the visual novel aspect, but it breaks the status quo and does the unexpected, making a deeply disturbing psychological horror game out of something that looks cute and adorable on the surface. The console version diminishes some of what made the PC versions twist work so well, a necessary sacrifice to get the game to a wider audience. And if you are just looking to return to this world and these characters, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! feels like the version that was made for the fans."

If this is accurate I don't have a whole lot of interest in it. I was wondering if the expansion was for fanservice or to significantly expand the narrative and I only care about the latter.

they don't contain any of the stuff you see in the latter parts of the game, but if you want to spend more time knowing these girls the reviews seem to indicate they are up to the quality of the rest of the game.

Oh, just side stories huh. Yeah, I'm more interested in the main story so if that's not expanded I'm not sure I'd get this.

Each of them focuses on two girls. I don't think the guy is in any of them.

I started playing this yesterday.

I played the original up until the 3rd day, so not very far in.

I like the side stories. They feel a little more mature than the original, although I think the latter is just plain better. There's also bunch of other really interesting new secrets and easter eggs which I've spent a good few hours collating with some others. It looks like everything should be findable somehow by digging through and translating/applying things hidden throughout the game and copious amounts of googling, which I cannot recommend enough if you enjoy that sort of thing (and can avoid the people who have already worked things out).

I also got rickrolled once. I wish I were joking.
