Personal rankings: T&T > SoJ 1 > PW1 > SoJ 2 > DD > JFA > GAA > AJ

Unpopular opinion (most likely): I love T&T's detention center theme. Can't quite explain it, but it really nails the mood better than any other theme. SoJ's Japanifornia theme is also really good. Also, what the heck is up with AJ's title for this one? It might explain a lot about that game if they thought they were going for a tragic comedy!

voted JFA. I have an affinity for these for the very simple piano themes, as it makes the room feel very cold and hallow. Certainly all of them feel 'sad', but none of them feel as cold as JFA or T&T, so I think those are the best two here.

Despite the comments in the thread, AJ is actually my 2nd favourite. There can only be one winner though, and that's JFA.

PW1 and JFA both good. PW1 better melody but JFA more sad. T&T and AJ both good, don't like the style of DD/SoJ.

I don't dislike any of these (uh except DD), but most of them feel almost too simple. I'm going with PW1 here, but GAA and SoJ-1 are pretty good too.

i'm picky about melancholy

aa1's is genuinely iconic and the most memorable by a good margin, but that doesn't mean i like to listen to it all the time. i can see the zelda comparison for jfa, though i don't think it's strictly a style exclusive to zelda and ace attorney. t&t's is either a bit too simple and melodramatic or meandering too much. i feel it works well, it just isn't without perceivable shortcomings. aj's is one that targets multiple kinds of moods and pulls it off decently well. more importantly though, it reminds me curiously of some of dbz: attack of the saiyans' area themes. dd's leans in a little too much on lounge and not melancholy. i like it more than my ranking indicates, it just doesn't capture the right feelings for the theme (i blame etrian odyssey). similarly it's a great attempt from tgaa, the problem is its handicap in having to work with its instruments that don't really work for the theme either. what exactly is it that japanifornia elegy seems derivative of? i thought it was another detention center theme but i was mistaken. anyway it's ok, doesn't really do that much. lastly khurain's is also remarkably solid. rounding out the set of songs that feel like other things, it feels oddly FF-like.

i think some of the "lesser" themes should come next - hotlines of fate maybe? how much else is there other than the court themes --character leitmotifs, reminiscences?

just finished the core themes - is it just me or are aa1 and aa2 like head and shoulders above the rest? i think i have aa2 by a hair there.

Yeah, there's the Suspense/Fate themes, the "special abilities" themes, the different character themes, and then the major themes (Reminiscence, Objection, Pursuit, and Announce the Truth) left, I think, unless I'm forgetting something.

I never realized I am a fan of PW1 music until those polls
The original is the best. The rest after PW3 I don't even remember. I also feel like we spend less time in the Detention Centers in future games that we used to in the original trilogy, but I don't have facts to back this up, just my memory

yeah, AA1 crushes this one. think AA6's khura'in and AA3's themes are also pretty good.

my favorite part of AA4 was the MASON system. the part where you visit valant in prison, with AA1 music, kind of blew my mind with how good it was.

prosecutor themes is a thing, but AA1 doesn't have one. edgeworth and franziska kind of share one in JFA, though edgeworth takes it for himself later, but i think every other prosecutor has their own, as do the main prosecutor-role people in investigations

prosecutor theme is kind of a character theme. there should be probably 3 days of character themes anyway, right?

the only thing a little off is that objection themes are definitely character themes for athena and apollo, but eh

Well, DD and SoJ combine Objection themes with character themes since there are three attorneys, but Apollo and Athena have versions that play when they're not the playable character, so that's probably what I'd use for their actual themes.

A surprisingly good batch of songs. I never really remember detention center music, but everything here was fairly enjoyable. These song names are pretty funny, too. Elegy of the Surveillance Cameras? Really?

1 sounds way worse than what I remember. It must be that soundchip. 4 is surprisingly catchy, but I think it doesn't fit the detention center at all.
