Soup kinda sucks IMHO... it's like just water, (or milk if it's a cream of something)

I mean, if a bowl of cereal has more thickness then something has gone horribly wrong with that soup

So, what exactly are you trying to get out of it?
Do you want a filling soup, a flavorful soup, a quality vegetable soup, or what's up?

well, flavour isn't an issue - I can always add so much spice it becomes a flour unto itself - but I simply am dissatisfied with how soup is basically just, like, tea. It's tea!!!!!!!!

100% agree. I had some clam chowder Sunday at lunch, it was okay... but yeah generally, soup sucks.

What? Is your soup just broth or something? Are you not actually putting substance in it? A soup can be as thin or as hearty as you want it... The amount of stuff in the soup that's not broth is totally up to you.

It's an enigma. I could add a whole chicken and there be almost no broth and I'd be all like... this isn't good soup, this is just wet chicken.

Saffron?

If you're throwing saffron in your chicken soup, I don't know what the fuck y'all are doing with your money.

Anyway, this is the best veggie soup I've ever made:

I was talking about the Sazon seasoning that HornedLion was reffering to, but said that there was a chicken on the the label, which is not saffron for sure, so I deleted my post.

I googled Malted Goya and only found this:

This is a drink... I guess you can drink it with my soup. Who knows... it might be the broth youre looking for.

Ok, I'll give y'all a ballpark

here's a vidya of TJ Kirk making chicken soup and it's probably the thickest and most colourful chicken soup I ever seen.... but I'd want it even THICKER

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWcswnsW-oU

Doesn't have to be, like, gravy thick - I got potato starch for just plain ordinary thickening - but it's gotta be, like, flavour-thicc

If you want to thicken your soup, just add some flour and cook it out, normally it takes like 30 minutes so add it early in it.

So, it sounds like your looking up recipes to make soup, but what you want is STEW.

Something with thickeners, possibly a gumbo?

Or, be texmex as **** and make chili, with beans.

I was thinking the same. All one would have to do is add some Potatoes. Boilem, smashem, and stickem in a stew.

Potato Soup

1 Tblsp butter
1 medium onion, diced (about 1 cup)
2 medium baking potatoes, peeled & diced (about 3 cups)
28 oz chicken broth (2 cans)
1/4 cup heavy cream

In a medium saucepan over high heat, melt butter. Add onions and stir often, until onions are translucent. Add potatoes and broth. Bring to a boil, cover pan and lower heat. Simmer until potatoes are soft, about 20 minutes. Stir in cream.

Optional: Garnish with sour cream, crumbled bacon, chives, and/or grated cheese.

Back when I ran track and used to carbo-load, I used to make a normal chicken noodle soup, but then add rice, bread, and crackers to it to the point where it basically stopped being soup and became a porridge entirely made out of starch.

Also, when I was back in college, I disliked ramen because it was too broth-y, but couldn't just strain off the broth because the noodles alone are almost flavorless. So I actually started mixing the flavor powder directly into the noodles after boiling/straining them, which made them less like a soup and more like a pasta in cream sauce. It was pretty good (once you take into account the fact that it's still ramen), but you have to use less than the full pouch of seasoning, or you wind up with an excessively strong, excessively salty flavor (ie, it's made to be mixed into broth, so it winds up being too strong if you don't do that).

I don't know about making soup, but Tim Hortons has some great soups. Potato-Bacon and Clam-Chowder are some of the best, with their occasional Spicy Thai being the absolute best.
