Do you agree with all the people and companies who are boycotting Georgia due to that state making it harder and harder for people to vote?

The worst part is that the lost revenue is going to make it even shittier for the parts of GA that already lacked funding.

It is definitely going to hurt people who need that money, but the sad part is that money is the only language some of these politics speak. Until you hit them where it hurts, they won't listen.

They don't care, decreased state and city revenues, especially in atlanta just give them more justification for budget cuts to DMVs and urban departments.

This will only backfire if you watch the fallout carefully.

If voter ID is mandatory then it should be mandatory for the state to ensure that every citizen has free, ample opportunity to acquire said ID

Under penalty of life in prison to restrict any citizen unreasonably from getting one.

It was the same thing with these hollywood production companies pulling out of georgia.

Their presence and the type of people they attract to work there were attracting a more liberal crowd and turning those areas blue, the same thing happens with large spikes to urban population.

Stopping these things in protest only hurts their own goals.

If you look at texas or other areas, the thing they hate most is "big money liberals" coming in and "taking over their state". When these companies/organizations pull out, it isn't the republicans that lose.

Which will lead to more people voting. The ultimate result will be bad for the GOP. Short term pain for long term gain. I live in Georgia and Im willing to deal with this as are many of us in the state

Read my post above yours.

Not a large enough percentage of the state will feel any pain from the loss of these things to change anything, those who do notice any direct effects of it already primarily vote blue.

It's just the DMV or Registrar Office. Also if you go to the Registrar office you need to have proof of voter registration which you can't get unless you have a photo ID

Correct but there is one aspect you are missing. What about the people that still arent voting at all? That market is dried up yet. Sure most people this effects already votes blue but this could get more voters in general. If this dies cause that to happen then the voters that begin to vote because of this will be overwhelming blue

That's the thing. They're making it very difficult for people who don't vote to start voting. These are already low motivation folks so inconveniences to the process are super effective at making sure they stay non voting.

True. However, this can also backfire. Making it harder to vote could be motivation/a rallying cry to get more people to vote.

Its pretty easy too. The message is that they fear us and are making it difficult to stop you would actually increase motivation. I can see people with low motivation looking at this and going, Oh? You dont want me to vote so bad that you are willing to do all of this? I never liked you anyway so fuck you Im voting.

This is all speculation of course. No one really knows how this will turn out. I know for a fact that this will be a big rallying crying for the black community. Especially if they are religious. It also helps that this situation in Georgia is in main stream media. Nothing here is flying under the radar

when you are affected by negative public reactions to something bad that someone else did, do you blame the public for reacting or the person that did something bad?

if your answer is "the person that did something bad, I'm not a moron!" don't you think it's reasonable to conclude that voters would have the same answer?
