Yea I've been thinking recently about how I don't enjoy video games anymore. I like video games if they give me a problem to solve, but I don't really enjoy them and tend to get discouraged a lot.

I'm at 4200 hours in Star Trek Online now. I basically just run my bot a few hours a day (yes I wrote a bot for this game). I saw creating a bot as the "last achievement" I could make, as quite frankly, I have no reason to continue playing as I've solved the game's mysteries.

As for other games, I booted up Morrowind today and played for a few hours. I couldn't get immersed in it. I just felt tired after playing. It just didn't interest me like it used to. I wonder if there's a game out there that could interest me anymore.

I also dropped some time into Path of Exile to see if I could do "one more half assed try" at it. No, I think I am done with that game. I find a lot of interest in listening to people talk about it, but I don't find interest in playing it. Feels like work. STO is no longer work, because I am largely just botting it now.

Before someone posts in here "You don't like video games!". You know I like video games. I watch video game podcasts, I post about Pokemon a lot, and I still like new entries of that series when they come out. I am looking for something that quite frankly, even if it existed, I wouldn't enjoy - a long running live service game that I can be constantly engaged with other players on. New ones just don't seem to exist, and the ones I tried were so long ago, I don't really care anymore (I always think of Dota / League, but I am so bad at those games it's not worth trying, I also think about Warframe, but that game has no difficulty and it's main content loop is like watching paint dry). I want something that doesn't exist.

My Birthday is in 2 weeks. I will be 31. This is the second year in a row I don't know what I want, and the third year of not really being interested in video games. I don't think it's depression related either, because I have no issues enjoying other things like anime, manga and the hours of emergent streaming content I watch every day.

I just can't find a game I want to actually find enjoyment in. I'm starting to think about how much I actually have to invest to find that amount of enjoyment, but in reality I want to play a game I can play "for years", and not for days.

I'm also not really interested in Trails of Cold Steel IV now that it's finally coming to PC this week. I just don't care enough about that series anymore, when I know it's going to go in a more action oriented direction in a few years from now.

I do continue to find a lot of enjoyment and fulfillment in working, so when it comes to video games, I don't want to work there too. I already work enough as it is, I want some other kind of enjoyment in my life, but I don't know what kind of investment I will have to make to find that kind of enjoyment again. I don't even know if it exists.

The new system in the ES series is definitely what the game needed, regardless of what fans say. The levelling system is bearable, and I like ES, so Ive been dealing with it, but I much prefer the system in Skyrim. Although, I dont like being told exactly where to go. I like the asking-around method from ESII and III.
