Lots of great movies from 1985 but my personal favorite is Return of The Living Dead

Im not the biggest horror fan but that movie is just so ridiculous and goofy that it makes it a lot of fun

But my pick goes to Studio ghibli's Castle in the Sky.

It's honestly pretty hard to choose between Back to the Future, The Color Purple, The Last Dragon, and The Breakfast Club.

I also never knew until now that "That Was Then, This is Now" had a movie. I love S. E. Hinton books.

I'm watching it now and I was like wait WAIT that's the mom in Downton Abbey!

Also. I can't wait for the new season. I love the modern series so much.

Edit: there are some directions I'm not sure I'm liking though but it's very late 80s 90s

Edit: oh dang they really skip over trying to make some characters sympathetic and I don't think it's intentional... Like... Just... Things didn't age well

I'm enjoying it fine and I know what time period this is. It's just pretty obvious how better the discussion is handled with the modern series.

Well this is a tough one, since the number of good movies in my birthyear seemed to be turned up to 11. There were as many stinkers too, that year, but we almost never talk about them except that one novel adaptation I actually kinda liked, despite being actually bad. <_<

I'm going to go with the first Ghostbusters movie, but it's a close call.

Fun fact: my father's favorite film was also released the same year.
