More complex and better gameplay than the first xenoblade game. Solid visuals in docked mode, and an amazing soundtrack as well. --- Less is more. For example, assume to clear the first area of 1 you needed to be level 5. Easy enough. In order to clear the first area of 2 you need to be level 8 and have the proper soul attached to your character(I say soul but it could be called something else). Pyra was only 1 soul that you could equip to your character. Other souls allow you to use different weapons, and each one of them from what I remember has to be leveled up. Don't quote me on that, its been a very long time since I played the 2nd game. Pyra allowed you to use a 2h sword. Other souls allowed you to use daggers, axes, and hammers depending on your playstyle. You couldn't just buy these souls. You needed to get lucky to find the one that your looking for, and some of them are different quality than others. It was a ton of work for very little reward. It didn't help that right in the middle of mobs that were my level randomly an enemy who was much much higher level would just patrol and I might die due to it aggroing. For example, there was a pack of level 11/12 monsters and a patrolling level 70ish monster. But it's a game that's most annoying at the start where you're learning all the systems. Once you get an idea of what's going on and get some good Blades, it's combat is pretty fun. The story is okay imo, but it is absolutely laden with shonen anime tropes. The VA is bad, especially compared to the first game, and the sound mixing is kinda fucked up in some scenes. Zeke and Nia have pretty interesting stories/character arcs as well. I really think the story is just as good as 1's if not better.
