Uhhh, this reveal was fine since it wasnt a Fire Emblem swordfighter.

Its the FE clowns that make swordfighters boring.

This character actually looks pretty fun and from a series with inly one character. So good in my book.

I mean, all of the completely new FE characters added since Smash 4 have mixed things up so that they're not just swordfighters.

Robin uses magic and has a durability mechanic.
Corrin makes use of her dragon transformations.
Byleth has the other three major FE weapon types as part of his arsenal, and even his sword is capable of extending.

I think the issue is the Marth derivatives, who were all added to their respective games towards the end of development to pad out the rosters, and Roy himself was cut and only brought back due to popular demand in Smash 4. Chrom also had popular demand in Japan.

This is Smash, not Mugen. At this point all that are left are meme characters like Sora, Dante, and Doomguy and Id rather have someone that looks interesting rather than someone whos obligatory like Min Min.

People keep bitching about the FE echoes even though Sakurai himself said they didnt take away from potential actual new characters, and I know for a fact anyone who says they all play the same either havent actually played any of them (likely) or have only played with Marth and Roy (more likely)

Plus aint nobody said shit about Hero despite him being one of the progenitors of modern sword JRPG guys, far as Im concerned people only want THEIR sword guy in the game

This is all true. I was disappointed in Pyra / Mythra's addition mainly because I wanted Yuri Lowell instead who is many a swordsman. A lot more people obviously want Dante who is a swordsman as well, but also a hybrid, considering all of the other weapons he has used, so he would be fresh enough to be met with absolute approval by the smash fanbase and internet at large. A lot of people are disappointed in Pyra / Mythra's inclusion now because they are swordfighters that were announced right after Sephiroth, who was also a swordfighter. If they had released Pyra / Mythra earlier in the original Fighter's Pass when Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was still fairly recent a lot more people would have been hyped. Also with them taking up 1 of the 3 remaining fighter slots has people worried considering so many popular characters are competing for the last two slots which is bound to leave a lot of people disappointed if there isn't a third Fighter's Pass.

Swordsfighters are a bit of a issue as that's why quite a lot of people are lukewarm on Pyra and Mythra. Their saving graces are they a new Xenoblade reps, which is a series that was a bit underrepresented in Smash, they are females and they are waifu bait. The main issues some people have.... Fire Emblem is a bit overrepresented, which isn't entirely true, as only Awakening is as it has three reps, considering the Fire Emblem series is over 30 years old. Too many of the Fire Emblem characters are too similar weapon wise, which I agree, there are too many sword users amongst Fire Emblem roster. Too many of the Fire Emblem characters play too similarly, which I also agree, there are a bit too many clones of Marth's style.

Too many anime inspired characters, which I disagree with, considering Smash is a Japanese game developed by a Japanese company for mainly a Japanese demographic first and foremost. If some foreigners don't like it too damn bad, don't play the game and move on because 99% of your western and shitty meme characters are never going to make the cut anyway. You guys are never going to be able to officially culturally appropriate Smash Bros. Tough shit, stick to making shitty fan games and fuck off. None of this last paragraph was directed at you and your beliefs cuttin, I was just making a statement.

Theres so many iconic and good fighters to play as in Smash, but whenever another one is announced people still complain lol.
