Content creators who are worried about "Rule 34" need to realize it's not about their product.

People will find ways to sexualize things, no matter how far off-model they have to go, because they want to. People will make porn of it on principle alone. In the case of Aquaman and his wife, they're attractive people in other forms of media. An artist won't have to use much imagination to picture what a sexy undersea redhead would look like.

If the Brave Little Toaster has Rule 34, so will your show. It's unavoidable.

Why are people so triggered by "Cal Arts"? I legit don't get it. Animation in the 80s and early 90s was way worse. It was like limited animation action figures.

80s cartoons probably get a pass because their character designs used a fewer overt stylistic flourishes, so it doesnt grow stale as quickly.

unpopular opinion, though, I was kind of sick of the Bruce Timm art style by the time Justice League came out. >_>

HBO Max is part of the reason we are getting new seasons of Young Justice so fuck it I don't mind them playing around with some different art styles.

If kids are playing video games rather than playing with toys, companies should adapt and see to it that their intellectual properties receive quality video game adaptations. It's silly to let merchandising die as a concept, and to shovel out the bear minimum in the hopes of getting any sort of return, than it is to adjust with the times.

Dexter's Lab had a sharp wit, but I would not consider it to have a good art design. Power Puff Girls was better in the art department. That look fit the show like a glove.

Of course, it could also be a matter that both shows were subversive and the whole "subversive show with an ironically bad art design" routine is getting a little cliche a quarter of a century later.

It was intentionally simple because it was meant to be slapstick funny, and so detail wasn't important. They did bust out a bit of a budget when scenes called for it, though.

Like, all the complaints make no sense here. If you don't like the style, that's fine. But don't act like action-comedy ever had an era of detailed figures. Most of us grew up on Cartoon Cartoons.

If you couldn't figure out that it's action comedy just from looking at it, see a doctor.

compare 80s thundercats to thundercats go to the early 2000s thundercats;



comparing unfavorably to a cartoon from 40 years ago is bad enough (how would you compare an appliance, a car or a computer from 1985 to one from today?) but look at how pathetic it looks compared to the 2000s one

it disturbs me that the 2011 thundercats was cancelled, so was the teen Titans cartoon. Its almost like people are getting more stupid and they need stuff like teen titans go

The art styles weren't great either and they were terrible in practice. The tone of the show changed presumably, and so the character design changed with it. There's nothing pathetic about it, it's just different.

BTAS is very different from He-Man or GI Joe or something else from that era. It's about when the transition started to actually looking good.

It's... not a change in tone if the show was always going to be a comedy.

Your complaint is "why is this a comedy and not an action series." Which is fine by preference, but the comparisons make no sense in that context.
