Yeah, sorry. I always try to solidify it into a concrete image in my mind. At its core, fascism is about order and control. It's simply taken to an extreme where it prevents individual freedom or, in worst case scenarios, the right to live.

Any extreme can be dangerous. Even extreme charity can be harmful if it comes at a total loss to one's self or a disruption of their personal life. It doesn't mean that having a lean automatically makes person the extreme.

You're not an extremist if you think everyone left of you is a communist or everyone right of you is a fascist, but you're probably closer to extremism than you think the other party is.

What about abstract movies?

Nazis considered modern art "degenerate art".

I went to the abstract art museum when on vacation in Ireland to dispel my notion that abstract art was just "Squiggly lines and Penises."

I wound up with a slightly more nuanced view on abstract art...but there was also a lot of Squiggly lines and Penises.

I guess it's just not for everyone. I appreciate abstract music and writing, art just doesn't do it for me I guess.

I disagree, we should definitely champion bad art to own the fascists. Even bad art often has something to offer. You'll get more out of an Andy Milligan film than doing nothing at all, and doing nothing at all is still better than fascists.

Ive seen people say this about brutalist architecture. It sounds more like making excuses and/or shutting down legitimate criticism than anything else.

I dont think people who are secretly fascist are going around talking about how terrible modern art/abstract art is because they dont want to reveal their true beliefs.

Not specifically, but this is a ridiculous thing they do in general. Remember the vitriol at The Last of Us? Calarts? I think they'd call it "virtue signaling", if they had any self-awareness.

Don't agree with this. In fact, abstract art was heavily pushed by the CIA in the cold war to promote american culture internationally as being free, open to new ideas, etc to undermine communist regimes. Which is quite amusing, given the ideas were manufactured and promoted by the government and not naturally embraced by the culture. So anyway, I don't think you can assume all facists would dislike abstract art.

Its even easier to just not have a strong opinion over something that doesn't concern you. People who aren't fascists, but have strong opinions about modern art, while not being interested in art personally, or invested in the many nuances of the history and current culture of art, have an opinion which is only slightly more noteworthy than that of fascists, but worth less than a banana taped to a wall.

And there are those people who are just professionals and have strong opinions about art themselves since it's their passion.
