The only real one is that it would immediately create a voting bloc of 2.3 million people who potentially would just vote for whoever campaigned on the promise to reduce sentences or change laws to get them out early, which is why some people say they should have to wait until time served.

And since we also do things like restrict gun ownership for felons, you could also make the argument that there's plenty of precedent to justify the current situation.

Only if they'll finish their sentence during the term they're voting for. (Eg. Someone who'll be released in 2022 could've voted in the 2020 election, but not someone who'll be released in 2026.)

Maybe even "only if they'll finish it before the result takes effect". Not sure. (So in this case, someone who would be released before January 20th 2021 could've voted in the 2020 election.)

The whole point of prison is to remove someone from society for a period of time. As they are not a part of society while incarcerated, they do not get to have a say in how society functions or retain the same rights.

it's okay, we both know you can't actually present a solution on how to deal with violent crime and criminals even though you think prisons can not exist
the fact that deep down inside we both know is enough for me
you don't have to sufficiently address it
we can still be friends

Prisoners are citizens. They should have a say in who runs their country.

Not to mention that in a bad enough situation, restricting voting rights for felons can be a stepping stone towards imprisoning people for the wrong reasons to impede their right to vote. If a regime decided that protesting their policies was illegal and anyone who protests for any reason went to jail, that would be one way of putting a dent in the opposition's votes and bolstering your own lead.

Ultimately, regardless of the crime, a citizen of the country should have a right to vote. Restricting voting rights of felons is a dangerous step towards putting your political opponents in jail to disadvantage the opposition. It could be argued that with a heightened focus on minority races being convicted of felonies and getting thrown into jail, that process of disenfranchisement is already well underway. It's inhumane and stupid.
