I think it was Dr. Phil who said this when he was on the JRE; but you shouldn't compare your personal truth to other people's social masks. Meaning, only you know the struggles of your life, but when you look around, all you will see is brave face other people put on for the world.

It's almost guaranteed that those people have their own struggles you don't see; who also wish they were better put together.

I don't know if what I'm feeling is unsatisfied. I have my life pretty much exactly where I want it to be. Decent job, decent car, decent place, family. It isn't much but it was all I really hoped for coming up from homelessness.

But now that I have everything I wanted, it's like, well what the fuck do I do now? Just been kind of existing for the last couple years.

Exactly. I naturally fell into this understanding and it's a gem. Honestly, it's probably a large chunk of how I keep a humorous attitude most the time. Comparing yourself to others is a massive draining time sink that never goes anywhere.

Im also easy to talk to and don't gossip. So a lot of the time people are open with me about how shitty life can be for them. Then I see other people think of them without that information and it's clear as day how it goes down in peoples heads when comparing what they see on the outside of somebody with the inside of them.

Find something that you can see yourself progress and improve on. It's pretty much the secret to human happiness.

I did a few months ago, felt that way for about two months before I instituted some change to remedy the situation. Worst case scenario, you try and fail, learn from the failure and try again but at least you tried.

I know a person in my life who inspired me tremendously a few years ago. When I got to know them a bit more, they were having similar struggles in their life about a decade ago. Growing up and constantly comparing themselves to other people who have achieved greatness at a younger age in the same field. The turning point for them was basically taking the risk and making a new start at something (with the encouragement of a friend). A new direction in life. Showing initiation instead of sitting around and moping, complaining about what you should have in your life.

I would have never met this person if they didn't follow that path. Because of it, it sorta gave me a second chance at life and what I wanted to do. Part of the journey is bumping into positive people who will hopefully help you along the way.

Just remember that life isn't a sprint. It's a marathon. No need to be in a rush. We all grow at different speeds. Take your time.

You're all good folks for the encouraging words.

And for the people in the same boat as me, hopefully we can start making things better when this is over, or at least feel better.

I dunno, I dont really feel happy happy - I know I am but I am just unfamiliar with that feeling or really need to take into account more often the things Im doing

I guess Im just really afraid of packing it in and moving to some place out in the woods and forgetting that there even is this proverbial ladder to climb

Not sure why, I mean Im just going through the motions of title and title and to me it just sounds like a pointless exercise I can skip.. just feel incredibly bored and coddled in a way by my job and whatever
