i drink low sugar substitutes.

we have this nice soda substitute that tastes great with "only" 3.9g sugar per 100ml which essentially means i can drink twice the amount before it matches the average coke or whatever soda.

i'm careful not to overindulge but it definitely satisfies my cravings for flavored drinks.

i'm definitely not too keen on those 0 calorie substitutes either since i'm sure those artificial sweeteners come with a price of their own. at least i know what somewhat limited sugar intake does to my body.

Theres also this powder mix called TRUE Lemon (also has other flavors like lime, different berries, etc.) that has no calories/carbs/sugar etc. It basically mimics the process youre describing. I like it.

Actually, now that you mention it, Im wondering if they have a cucumber flavor lol.

Pickle juice is also apparently great for hydration. This is why youll see pickle juice or pickles sometimes being handed out at the finish lines of foot races.

Too much milk can be bad for you, though. Like it can put you at a higher risk for prostate cancer, if you drink it too much. I am someone who loves milk and drinks a lot of it, so it could cause me problems down the line. Prostate cancer is also what my dad died from, so...

I'm pretty sure I recall reading a study specifically about the sports drink vs water debate and the conclusion was water is better because of the sugar content on the sports drink. The IV drip fluid (also on the list) is essentially just the sports drink without the sugar.

Point being is I think that research is suspect and being measured on a disingenuous metric like long term water retention instead of hydration.

And this study says the opposite: that having sodium, sugar, fats, and/or protein makes the absorption of water easier than just water.
