There is literally nothing stopping the current congress from passing a stimulus bill right now. You cannot seriously blame Trump or Republicans for the Democrats not sending out checks. You can correctly say they generally don't support doing so, but the Democrats have the majority now and could pass a bill at literally any time. They are directly responsible now for not doing so.

If you look at the polling in the primary, Biden voters picked him because they thought he could win and defeating Trump was their #1 issue.

The one major thing a lot of liberals and Dem voters keep saying is that bipartisanship is needed and cannot be ignored in order to get things done. They've constantly said this after the last 10 years of Republican stonewalling everything (except defense spending!) as if they expect the current iteration of the GOP to attempt to work together for anything. We already know the Dems are gonna use reconciliation to pass the covid bill so why keep pretending that they need to negotiate on the terms of the bill.

It really is that easy. Add up how many people qualify for the stimulus, multiply by the stimulus amount and there you go. The problem is they have to throw in their random talking points for some reason.

Like I've said elsewhere, this is a ridiculous own goal by the Dems, to make what amounts to a rounding error on the stimulus bill, both making it slightly worse and opening the door to disingenuous yet true and devastatingly simple attacks.

It's like they're allergic to winning and delivering.

I wasn't presenting a solution. You brought up that progressive changes require bipartisanship. Bipartisanship on anything labelled progressive is impossible, therefore, big progressive wins would require a government that does not currently exist in America.

I'm being really bitter and cynical about the state of the country is all.

This is ridiculous.. it's always been very clear that it would be $1,400. Even in that speech in Georgia.. anyone paying attention at the time knew they were fighting to get an additional $1,400 and the reason it wasn't happening was because of the Senate. He was referring to getting that additional amount finally passed if the Republicans no longer held the majority in the Senate.

But I guess we're all suppose to just act like we don't know the context behind what he's talking about.

If you want to say he lied about it happening immediately.. then have at it. It didn't happen immediately and he clearly said it would if they won Georgia. That's all he 'lied' about though.
