This kinda reminds me of the other topic on here where someone asked if you ever tip, etc. Short answer for me is a simple no. Growing older now, im 30. And even over time I just never understood the whole concept behind it because it is such a grey area. Not only that, but Ive got many reasons. Not just the differential views, but I dont want to feel guilty about not doing it. Its a strange thing when you have companies rely on that tipping system not pay them a good enough wage. Plus to sum this up here... I value my own money. Am also in the same boat as they are, and have my own issues in life I have to deal with. Cash is king in this world weather you like it or not.

I mean like...hearing about people dying and it just rolling off your shoulder because it doesnt take a lot for life to end. Its become something of a matter-of-fact rather than a tragedy because Ive taken this flat, every life is equal view. And when you start seeing things like that, it stops being upsetting like it should be (since you gradually start treating every death the same when, really, theyre not; someone murdered deserves to be mourned more than some who died peacefully in their sleep).

the average adult human body is comprised of Water (35 L), Carbon (20 kg), Ammonia (4 L), Lime (1.5 kg), Phosphorous (800 g), Salt (250 g), Saltpeter (100 g), Sulfur (80 g), Fluorine (7.5 g), Iron (5 g), Silicon (3 g) and fifteen traces of other elements.

Humans can be built on the cheap... and this is totally not foreshadowing.

That is the right and proper way to view the world. No life is more important than any other, and there's no sense mourning the loss of a life that has no direct impact on yours.

Not being affected by things that have no effect on you is not something to be ashamed of.

Eeyup. The whole point of that little rant is that human bodies are nothing special, but despite that, artificially creating (or, in Ed's case, restoring) human life is virtually impossible.

Life is not cheap at all. Sometimes I think death would be more cost efficient, especially if you get diagnosed with a disease. Like if I ever get cancer, it'd be cheaper for me just to kill myself than it would be to go through the trials and tribulations of attempting to get cured and be in millions upon millions of dollars of debt I will paying off for the rest of my life anyway.

Not to mention that after you die then you dont really care how much your funeral/burial costs. Or whatever you want done with your earthly remains.

Shit, someone could just throw my corpse into a dumpster for all I care. No need to waste money on something that will have like 7 people at.

I'm kept from a totally nihilistic world view by basic empathy. If you think life is cheap then go try to stab yourself in your own hand. You can't do it, because it's too valuable. You might be able to get over the pain in the moment, but you would have to live with a crippled hand for the rest of your life, which would be sad.

That's the value of life, it's just easy to forget. Suffering is bad.
