Can I also strongly recommend For the King as a difficult, newish turn-based roguelike of sorts?
I like it even more than Darkest Dungeon, and with some bad luck and on higher difficulties it can be almost as difficult as Darkest Dungeon.

I understand your point because you're using the word 'combat' and associating it with naval ships. But it's a weak argument.

Turn based is so awkward. So you're just going to watch the person attack you? It's unbelievable that the genre even spread its wings.

For card games or board games the premise is great. But it crashes and burns outside of such applications. It's sad tbh lol

Thanks for the heads up. Id never heard of For the King before, so Ill keep an eye out for a sale. Been playing a lot of Slay the Spire, which is really good, and I just got Warsaw. Ive only played about an hour of Warsaw, so Im not sure of it yet, but it reminds me of Darkest Dungeon, sort of.

Like I said I don't think that it doesn't transfer to a TV screen, but a video game also gives you additional possibilities and to me many of them are more fun

I'm no RPG expert, so I'm sure there are exceptions, but the problem is that to get to the genuinely "strategic" parts you have to go through hundreds of tedious battles where you one or two shot the enemy. Action games have this too but the difference that's nice is you can do it in seconds or less, instead of having to wait for the game to enter the battle screen, have menus pop up, do the actual battle, then a victory/results screen

Shooters ar far worse you can run up to a person and get shot like 5-8 times the you get to the person and stab them once and they die, the you just hide for like 3 seconds and magically heal
