huh I just saw that even though the Lions had nothing to play for the refs didn't take a week off of calling completely indefensible penalties against them that cost them the few wins they're able to get

so I was thinking last night about shocking week 17 losses to miss the playoffs and of course I ended up watching the Vikings hysterical collapse against the Cardinals from 2003 (really good on a rewatch even now, highly recommend).

What's interesting isn't so much the Vikings missing the playoffs, but the Cardinals, had they lost that game, would've picked number 1 instead of number 3. They took Fitzgerald with the 3, but could've had a shot at Eli Manning.

Also the 2003 playoffs were out of CONTROL lit.

You had the Packers/Seahawks "we want the ball and we're gonna score" OT game, the Packers/Eagles 4th and 26 OT game, the Chiefs/Colts no punts game, the Rams/Panthers double OT game. And the Panthers/Patriots super bowl was ridiculously good from what I remember.
