Act of Aggression (it's like a spiritual successor to Act of War, except they got rid of certain mechanics like unit veterancy and that always bugged me >_>).

Assassins Creed series

I've played 1, 2, and an hour or two of Black Flag and I could never get in to them. However, Valhalla looks REALLY good and the setting i'm really interested in so I will give it another shot once my PS5 gets here.

Alien Isolation, I posted this on the PS4 and made everyone cry ( ;_;)

Usually Im into surv. horror anything but this game just starts off so incredibly slow and drags out what its trying to scare you with for so long that I just found it incredibly boring and a total slog to get through tbh

I still might give it a go

Same with Outlast 2, I lived the first one - but playing a sequel where Im still having to hunt down batteries or try and manage a battery system is just wack.. havent gotten around to beating that >_>

I got really far in Odyssey but I always get bored in AC games. And in Odyssey there's just WAY too much shit to do. I was about 70 hours in and still only explored about 60% of the locations

I actually loved the concept and atmosphere of AI, but I can't play it because it is legitimately too scary. I always get to around the same part and I have to put it down because the xeno is absolutely terrifying.

You should check out the series again if you like open world action/adventure RPGs. Origins, Odyssey and now Valhalla are radically different from the previous games, with a bigger emphasis on RPG-style questing and skill progression and gear management (though the gear management in Origins and Odyssey was... kinda trash, don't know how it is in Valhalla).

Also has basically nothing to do with the Assassins any more. Well, Origins sets up the background for the organization itself and there's one DLC with some hamfisted fan service references and another DLC with some really beautiful imagery of different interpretations of the afterlife according to Egyptian mythology. Odyssey though... basically nothing outside of some of the technologies they show.

Oh Final Fantasy XIV is another one. I love the graphics, the monster designs, the world, the music especially. But I lose interest after a couple of weeks.

Same with most MMOs :( Project Gorgon is another really awesome little gem but I don't have the willpower to get into it.

Maybe its because I played it right after I had played SOMA >_> now that was the game I was expecting Alien to be

I was just like gib me scary already D:

Ill give it a shot again eventually, usually I like to wait a bit when its a game I dont enjoy to have a fresh perspective on it

Might have to give them a shot >_>

I really dig the actual historical elements they implement into the games.. I may even go as far as to say that I really, genuinely enjoyed ACIII despite it being a suckfest and having all those weird Desmond parts I didnt care about

then they had the pirate AC, the London AC, and then some other one (PSP maybe?) iirc before Origins >_>

Origins looked pretty cool, so did the Greek one <_<

@FrankJaegr I liked the Desmond parts :(

It is definitely really exciting exploring ancient Egypt. I especially loved the Curse of the Pharaoh DLC, had some really beautiful scenery that I had only ever seen before in The Secret World (and it was really interesting seeing the contrast in the two interpretations of the City of the Sun God). For some reason ancient Greece didn't do it for me. The proportions of everything felt off and it ruined some of the immersion and graphical fidelity for me (I felt like I was 2 feet tall in this world). It was still a fun game, just an example of way too much content. Like. A lot.

After 3 you had 4 (Black Flag) and Rogue, which both played pretty similarly (open world sailing and ship combat, lots of smaller areas to explore). I preferred Rogue but everyone goes crazy about Black Flag. They both serve as prequels to 3, giving backstory to the characters and events there. I thought Rogue's story was more compelling though just because it tied in better to the stuff in 3; the reference in 4 felt like afterthoughts >_>

There was also Liberty which was like a companion to 3, that was on the PSP or some other Sony handheld - it did get ported to other platforms eventually. It actually wasn't terrible, just the lack of fast travel and the movement speed added like 40% to the overall play time I think.

Then you had Unity (19th century France), Syndicate (London) and the Chronicles (2d platformers in China, Russia and... Japan? idfk).

edit: Another reason I liked Origins more is just that Bayek and his story are more compelling to me. I played as Kassandra in Odyssey and she was a fun personality but the story just wasn't there.

I don't think the Chronicles games are too long.

Honestly I blasted through the series last year >_> they're not too long if you're just focusing on the story and ignore the side content.
